Anyone read any of his books? All Creatures Great and Small, etc? I absolutely loved them, but you have to have a taste for British humor.

A person is a success if they get up in the morning and get to bed at night and in between does what they want to do. Bob Dylan

Oh, his books are great! I liked the TV series based on them, too.

AH! Tricky Woo! I loved that story. That little lady was so funny about her dog, and the GARDENER, oh my!

Yep, you can leave London right out...just like being in NYC only with a better accent. Much prefer the countryside!

I grew up with these stories. My mom started reading them to me, along with Little House on the Prairie, before I was old enough to read on my own. My sister and I still laugh at references to "Tricky Woo".

If I ever get to travel to England, the Yorkshire countryside is what I want to see. I could skip London completely.

I've read all his books and absolutely loved watching the BBC series! It was wonderful and I plan to buy it some day!

I've read these books since I was a little girl and always watched the television show on PBS (still do, every Sunday night!). When I lived in England, I always felt like I was meeting the very people he wrote stories about!

I loved these books!! I cannot get my students to read them though. What fun they are to read. We read "Where the Red Fern Grows" as a class in 7th grade and they love it too. They all cry!

I love these too!! I too get in the mood to re-read them periodically, probably every 3 or 4 years. I have literally woken my husband up due to my laughing or crying over a particular story. He has such a wonderful outlook on life and people.

I just finished rereading All Creatures Great and Small, probably for the fourth time. He is a wonderful writer and paints such a picture of rural British life...

Read them as a teen and loved them. I used to read them sitting in my bed, and just cry and cry over some of the stories. I read "Where the Red Fern Grows" and cried for hours, too, when the dogs died. I avoided watching the movie for a long time, and when I did, I cried some more. I just love those animal stories.

I read all of his books! I love them. I love the feel you get for him as a person and those around him. I wanted to be a vet for the longest time after reading his books (Okay I still would love to be a vet but just can't afford the schooling).

I have read them also and can feel in my bones his description of birthing a calf on the cold stone floors. I also adore his subtle humor.
