I am eagerly awaiting the latest of the Southern Vampire Mysteries. It is not my normal type of book, but I am addicted. I started the series after watching the first series of True Blood. I am in love with Alcide.

I am 6th in line for the new Sookie book. I had to get a library card in the next county over to reserve it. So I am reading some short story compilations that Charlaine Harris contributed to. My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding, and Many Bloody Returns.

Oh Lisa, what a cute picture! I just bought Dead Club over the weekend to add to my ever growing pile of books. I've only read the first two and the next season on HBO will be based on the second book, I think... I love Sookie and oh man, I think Bill soooo cute on the show!!!

I love Sookie!!!! I love Anita too...Now I haven't read Kim Harrison but I might have to take a peek. If yall want a funny series - Mary Janice Davidson cracks me up. Vampire comedy not something I wouldn't figured on but she is funny!

I used to really like the Anita Blake series too. When I go bacj and reread them, I get a bit disappointed at how far they've strayed. Another author I like is Kim Harrison and her Hollow series.

I started reading the Sookie books after the Anita Blake series jumped the shark. I stopped after about the 5th book or so (how many are there right now?) because I got distracted by college. I'd love to start reading them again....I'd also like to see the television program as well, but i don't own a television let alone get cable, so I'll need to wait until the first season is out on DVD.

Since I haven't seen the show except the first episode I am not sure how much the using of the Vamp's blood is portrayed differently- but if you remember there was talk in the books about humans using the blood as a drug- that is why the Sookie had to rescue the vampire from the drainers. Gosh- It has been so long since I read the books! I think I am going to have to re-read them now :D

They kept Sookie's story true to the books, but made two other new storylines. One is Tara Thornton-on TV she struggles with her alcoholic mother, and there is a sort of Voodoo happening, as well as she works at Merlottes, instead of having her own store, and she has an affair with SAm. Then, the worst one involves Jason, and doing vampire blood like a drug, they call it doing "V," which goes against the book, because I think the whole blood tie thing would apply. I still love it though. I can't wait until the werewolves!

I have only seen the first episode of True Blood- It seemed pretty true to the books. Did it stay good or did they start changing the storyline?
