Love the Elm Creek quilters series also. The ladies of Covington series by Joan Medlicott is another good one. And a lot of the literary fiction that is out there is good, too.

I can't remember if there is swearing in the book, but have you read the Ender series by Orson Scott Card? I know the earliest books don't have any sort of romantic nuance. The last 2 books deal a little with relationships- but nothing explicit, its more of a dialog about human feelings. They are very PG/G.

Also the Worthing Saga by Orson Scott card doesn't have romance in it either. He is a pretty safe author. But he is Science Fiction/ Fantasy but I Love his books because he brings up a lot of philosophical lines of thought. The books are very intriguing and though-provoking.

The "Elm Creek Quilters" series by Jennifer Chiaverini is a superb series. I enjoy Carol Higgins Clark's books quite a bit too. There is quite a few British authors who write without all the gore, swearing and romance too. Try looking in your library and see what they can suggest too. Have fun finding new authors!
