Ok I just love the Duggers, I watched Josh's wedding last night. I seen the gift from his parents to him on his wedding day-books on the wedding night. I looked up the author online and found this book of his, btw he is a MD.

Intended for Pleasure: Sex Technique and Sexual Fulfillment in Christian Marriages

I am not starting this thread, to debate, morals, ethics or Christianity. My main focus is, I was able to read quite a bit of the first six chapters on BN.com today, tomorrow I'm going to go buy the book. It seems good to me.

I wanted to ask if any one else had read it and if they think it was informational and helpful in their marriage.

Again this is not a debate on morals etc, only a discussion about a book you may of read. :)

I am like you Kris, I'm sure there is moments...but as even the Bible says, Love covers all...and it seems to me that this family is truly applying this. It seems like their truly love each other and that's what I think makes all the difference. When you truly love some one, you put them before yourself, you are ready to forgive, and that makes the little mistakes seem not so important any more.

I just love the Duggers. Their morals are so good, especially in these days. And for all their children to be the way they are is a real testament to how the parents teach them. I'm sure they have their moments, like any large family. Even small families. And I'm sure the kids get in trouble sometime. But they all seem to work well together. And Michele is amazingly organized! And never seems to be stressed or overly tired. I love their buddy system, too.

I need to read the books by Dr. Wheat. Sounds like lots of good info. And a good wedding present, too.

LOL Laura I just suggested it to a couple who is getting married for the second time as well, the woman acted as if I was a nut, thinking they would need "help" in that dept. lol But, I say just give it a read....I know I loved the perspective, and I did learn a thing or two! lol Haha Good for you for giving it a chance even though you had been previously married.

I told the woman, not to turn it down just because her fiance had been married before. lol hahaha

I heart the Duggers too! My husband and I read the book before we were married. Tho' we both had been married previously, it was refreshing to have a new perspective.

Me too Melanie, and Heather!

Ashly I've been married for 8 years and found the book extremely helpful! lol

It even had suggestions about sex, during pregnancy. Things that never crossed my mind.

Also it had the best description for kegels I ever read! I actually was able to do them correctly! lol hahaha

I'm telling you, it's becoming my new wedding gift! I may give it discretely, but I am giving it.

Heather, I love their "true" love as well.

I am so glad on TV there is finally real morals, and true love.

What I like is, and I'm not demeaning any one here, some times it's inevitable......but they are teaching their children to truly love and cherish their mates. Not to treat them as if they are disposable-after all all you have to do is divorce and try again if it doesn't work! That's not how they are training their children, and that is really admirable.

I also liked the Dr. Wheat book, because it emphasizes a need for husbands to take care of their wives needs as well.

And even though I haven't read a lot of books on this subject to me, by and large most books I think are geared at a woman pleasing her man......with the woman's needs being completely by-passed as if they don't even exist!

The book emphasizing that a husband show love, patience etc with his wife...is really nice, and a breath of fresh air.

I am glad thankfully I have a husband like that, but I've heard horror stories from girl friends of mine. And it makes it so much more important to me, that people like the Duggars are now on TV, to show little boys, and men how gentle men are supposed to behave. Society has gotten so far off track on that!

It's truly a refreshing show to watch.

I didn't know he could sing either. lol My husband can't sing at all......so I'll be fine with him not singing! lol hahahaha

I don't get to watch that show very much, but it is great show. I'm amazed at how well the family unit works with all of those people in one house!

I thought it was so sweet to see real true love as it blossomed. I didn't know he could sing like that either!! I would be floored is Scott even hummed a little tune to me (which he does, but not seranading me in front of hundreds of people...well not yet anywho!!!). I think it is fantastic the way those kids have been raised and how they embrace family and children and love. So sweet!!! Makes me tear up every time!! : )

I work at a church and we have used Dr. Wheat's books to help young couples who are getting married that need some "instruction" in this area. I would recommend it :)

Me too, I admire how well the children are raised. The children seem to be so articulate and well educated.
