Posted - Dec 25 2008 : 5:19:18 PM I have just gotten an Advanced Review Copy of a fictional book called Daphne by Justine Picardie and have found it hard to put it down - "Drawing on Justine Picardie's extensive research into Daphne du Mauriere's obsession with the Brontes and he scandal that has haunted the Bronte estate, Daphne is a marvelous story of literary fascination and possession." Really give you a behind-the-scenes peek into the life of du Maurier and Menabilly. Book released in August 2008 so should be easy to find. Publisher is Bloomsbury

Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 7:07:07 PM Nancy Jo - wasn't the movie just something you had to watch! I loved it, but poor Daphne never really seemed happy- her little writing hut reminded me of my cabin on the hill, only my cabin is much more interesting. You have reminded me, I want to scope out ebay for that movie to add to my collection. I already own the old movie Rebecca with Laurence Olivier- I love picking up the book Rebecca and just turning to just about any page - so beautifully written, so lyrical. Posted - Dec 26 2008 : 08:42:55 AM Thanks for the tip! I noticed the Bronte obsession when I read 'The Loving Spirit' (first book by Du Maurier I picked up). I didn't realize there was more to it than that.
