Just finished two books that were really good:

-The Quilt that Walked to Golden by Sandra Dallas....the history of quilting, stories about women in wagon trains....one of the best books I've ever read....lots of historical pictures...can't say enough!

-How to Shovel Manure (And other Life Lessons for the Country Woman) by Gwen Petersen- Description on the back says Gwen is the Erma Bombeck of the farmhouse and the Ann Landers of the barnyard. It has a lot of good advice and wisdom told in hilarious ways.

Just thought I'd share! I picked up the shoveling manure one at TSC, it was part of the Christmas gift display!

I've read all the Sandra Dallas I could find and I love all of it - really good stories. I hadn't read her non-fiction though, so I will check it out, the other one too.
Thanks for the recommendations

Gwen Peterson is hilarious!! I have 2 of her books and got to see her in person at a Women in Ag event. She also writes in a few newspapers.. The Fence Post is one for sure I know of.

The ones I have are A Ranchwomans Manual and A Greenhorn's Guide to The Wooly West or something like that. She lives in here in MT..

I'm glad you wnjoyed the books, will have to look for the other one you mentioned...

Ashley, The Quilt that Walked to Golden, the book you mentioned. I have looked it up on the net and it looks wonderful!!!!
Is it worth the money? I mean it is quite expensive, but I MIGHT be able to give this to myself for Christmas if it really is worth it, lol.
Can you tell me?? Any info??
