I just finally remembered to post this - I read a wonderful book a couple of years ago that really embodies the farmgirl spirit. It is called No Time on My Hands written by Grace Snyder and her daughter Nellie Snyder Yost. It was published by a university press so it might be a little hard to track down but it is definitely worth it. Grace Snyder was the daughter of homesteaders, then married a cowboy and lived and homesteaded in the sandhill region of Nebraska. That part of the story is interesting in itself, but then, on top of homesteading she became a world famous quilter. The picture of the quilt on the cover of the book is amazing - tiny little pieces of fabric. A very inspiring book, makes you reexamine your priorities for sure!!

Amy,
Thanks for the reccommendation. I just ordered it from the library.
My grandparents are from the area in Nebraska that it is written about.

Blessings,

Isn't that a wonderful book? I, too, really enjoyed it, a wonderful picture of a homesteading family and their lives.
