I've been reading a really fun series of books-I guess you would call them murder mysteries, but it is the wonderful descriptions of the people, location, food, etc. that really grabbed me.
It is the "Three Pines" series by Louise Penny. They take place in a small Canadian village called Three Pines. Reading her books makes me wish I could go live in Three Pines!! Again, just a really fun read. She has three out so far-"Still Life" is the first one.

I'm a Diane Mott Davidson fan myself. Her books are based in a ficticious Colorado mountain town and I can see Evergreen Colorado (a true to life mountain town) in all of her discriptions. I have a girlfriend who lives in Evergreen and everytime I go for a visit I think of the books. They are all about a female caterer who solves mysteries. All very clean and wholesome to boot. She even includes recipes fo the dishes catered!

If you like this kind of reads, check out Mary Daheim and Diana Mott Davidson, too, they are fun mystery series. I ordered an Ann Purser from paperbackswap (Murder on Monday), but still looking for the Louise Penny books... |

You all might like the "Hamish MacBeth" series by M.C. Beaton. They are set in Scotland and are centered around a small-town constable - Hamish MacBeth - solving murder mysteries. They're pretty quick reads, and I think there's like 24 of them. The titles all start with "Death of a ...". My local library had a couple of them, but they have been able to order the others for me from other libraries. |

I just finished reading a Murder She Wrote book. I didn't know there was a book series based on the tv series. It was even co-written by who else, Jessica Fletcher. I like the mystery but so many of the books are also vulger. That is what I liked about murder she wrote. Good clean murder. |

Thanks for the suggestions! I love mysteries, at least the ones that aren't terrifying. My favorite authors are Rex Stout, M. M. Kaye and Agatha Christie. Unfortunately I have read all of their books, so I'm always looking for new authors to surprise me.

I love Ann Purser! She has written seven books about Lois Meade, who is the head of a cleaning company. I just finished "Sorrow on Sunday." This series has a mystery for each day of the week like, "Murder on Monday, " and so on! I'm hoping she starts on Mondays again and continues through the week once more! I can't put these books down!
