I'm about halfway through this book, and I love it!!! The writing style really appeals to me, and it addresses many issues of the way meat is produced in our country.
It is written by Catherine Friend, who helps run a sheep farm.
Anyone else read this yet?

Posted - Sep 14 2008 : 06:51:13 AM Just finished Compassionate Carnivore and really liked it! Thanks for the rec :) I really enjoyed the author's honest style of writing. It wasn't preachy or too scientific, it was just right.

Posted - Jul 22 2008 : 9:26:32 PM I've read both of those books by Catherine Friend. She's also a children's book author and has the cutest "farm" book called The Perfect Nest.
Catherine also has a blog that I love reading since I'm still a closet farmgirl!! www.catherinefriend.com
She lives not far from me and is visiting our Barnes and Noble in August for a signing and reading. I briefly met her awhile ago and she seems just like one of the gals. Great sense of humor too. I nearly wet my pants reading parts of Hit by a Farm.

Posted - Jul 10 2008 : 5:37:27 PM I've been looking at that book... I've read her earlier book, I think it was called "Hit By A Farm". I love her writing style, I feel like a close friend is sharing her tales of farm adventure! "The Compassionate Carnivore" has been hard to find here though.
