My mom gave me an Anniversary edition of Anne of Green Gables (this commemorates the 100th anniversary of the author's birth, I believe). There is a very nice Foreward written by two of the grandchildren of L.M. Montgomery, where they also note that they have authorized another author to write a prequel to Anne of Green Gables, to tell the story of Anne before she came to live with Matthew and Marilla.

Has anyone read this new issue? The excerpt of the prequel that was included in the Anniversary Edition was brief, but sounded good so far.

Interesting...I was just there (Green Gables) and I didn't notice this new book in the stores. But I hadn't heard about it so I wasn't looking for it. Too busy looking around, you know? I'm not sure if I want to read it or not. My first reaction is always to be resistant to any change in a classic. Like the way the publisher reorders the Narnia books now to make it look like The Magician's Nephew is the first book in the series.

Thanks, Nancy Jo! I should have thought of that ... just have not had time to do that just yet.

Melanie, You are so lucky...I hope to get there one of these days.

I checked on AMAZON, and you can order both there. The anniversary book and the one about her first years.

Only been there in my mind, Melanie! My parents made the trip there a few years ago during one of their retirement jaunts, and loved it. It is on my List of Places that I want to see...especially since I know a farmgirl there, too!

Hi Jo....I haven't read it yet. Shame on me as I live in Anne's Island. I will look for it next time I am in town. Have you ever been here to PEI?
