I was just wondering if there are people out there who, like me, reread books because they love them so much and if so what they are. Mary Janes Idea Book and Magazines are on my list, for fiction I would have to include anything by Barbara Kingsolver and Wendell Berry and also the Little House on the Prairie books.

I re-read Victory Garden and Mrs. Greenthumbs books after the Christmas Holidays to get ready for gardening. I re-read MJ's Life book ALL the time and her Stitchery book...I don't have the Outpost book yet but I'm sure it will be the same. I love Jan Karon's, The Mitford series of books and re-read those, Anne of Green Gables books, The Other Side of the Mountain....(that was the book that most inspired me as a child) and Anne George's Southern Sisters murder mysteries which are simply put...HYSTERICAL! I also re-read the Tao De-Ching.

I have re read the Outlander series a few times. I wore out the first two books and had to buy new copies.
I have also re-read Gone with the Wind about every five years.

I have re-read the "Little House" books too. The little girl in me loves the books and the show!
I have also re-read "Texasville" and "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry a few times. I love his humor!

And of course, my other two favorites:
The Color Purple by Alice Walker
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I have read Jane Austen's Persuasion so much that I have worn one copy out! I also like Gone With the Wind, but the follow up Scarlet is so good!!!

I love anything Jane Austen and read Pride and Prejudice at least twice a year. Also, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and a book called Discipline by Elizabeth Elliott.

Wear the old coat and buy the new book.

I reread:

Mary Jane's Idea Book

Little Women
Little Men
Jo Boys (usually in a row)

The Once and Future King

All Creatures Great and Small and other collected stories of James Herriot

Emma
Pride & Prejudice
Northanger Abbey

The English Kitchen Garden--it's my every January read.

I'm sure there are more, but that's what I can think of off hand.

The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and Midwives by Chris Bohjalian are two of my favorites. Although, I don't read Midwives as often as the Red Tent.

Every summer I reread my Jennifer Crusie books -- they're good "beach reading". Every winter I reread my Kate Wilhelm books, especially her Barbara Holloway legal mystery series. And I'm never disappointed when I reread anything by Barbara Kingsolver, Nevada Barr, or Roald Dahl.

Diane-

I'm just finishing "the good life" by the Nearings and I love it! It will be a re-reder fer sure! I enjoyed it so much I was sharing with my husband and he got into it and is reading it now too. I'm surprised he's so into it because he is not much of a reader. We are heading toward that kind of lifestyle and he is getting PUMPED about it now.

I'm with Tracy, as I love historical romance (or anything historical for that matter) I love anything Jane Austen and have re-read her novels so many times that I have lost count. Louisa May Alcott (Little women and all of her other wonderful books)Pretty much anything considered classic literature such as, Dickens, Twain, London or Stevenson and I love the Anne of Green Gables Books by L.M. Montgomery as well. Right now, I have over a hundred books to read in my to read pile and my family calls me a certified book nut, lol.

When I was young, I read and reread all the Chronicles of Narnia. I even have my old copies and now my kids read them. Since the second movie just came out I have picked them up again. I just finished "Prince Caspian"! It was excellent, so much better than the movie. They cut out all the really good stuff about faith and trust and obedience. They really changed it for the movie.

I STRONGLY recommend them to everyone, especially if you're going to go see the movie. Read the book first. Better yet, read it with the kids then all go see the movie!

Warning...the movie is rather intense and my 10 year old daughter had to cover her eyes in parts. It's got a lot of battle scenes and a scary scene with a were-wolf, too. The books are totally appropiate to read to young kids, however!

Till later...

I've never heard of most of the authors listed. I'll have to check them out.

I'm a sappy Historical Romance fan myself. My most all time FAVE book is "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiweiss. Very sweet book! (I think the Hero in the story reminds me of a guy I used to date and THAT'S why I like it so much. Aside from my WONDERFUL DH, I loved that man with a PASSION!! But I was young, and I just KNEW he was NOT good for me. I moved to another town so I could not see him anymore. Oh, but there is STILL (on occasion) that lingering "what if.....?") Anyway, now that I've spilled THAT little secret about myself....(LOL)

I will re-read any books by Judith McNaught (A Knight in Shining Armor" is one and "Whitney My Love" another) and I LOVE Dorothy Garlock's "Ribbon in the Sky." Also a book called "Wings of A Dove" by Elaine Barberi (sp?) Oh, and Johanna Linsey's "Fires Of Winter" and "Secret Fire."
I'm a HUGE RE-reader fan! I never part with the books that make me CRY! But I don't like to read the grafic TRASHY romances either. I prefer my OWN imagination over every little detail scribbled on the pages. How can anyone actually WRITE that stuff anyway, knowing other people are going to read it? (eewwww!!!!)

Gosh...you all love the same books I do. I would add anything by John Steinbeck (except for Winter of Our Discontent...I never got into that one) and The Dollmaker by Harriette Arnow..I love that book

I love mysteries and epic fantasies, so Rex Stout, M. M. Kaye, Agatha Christie and Terry Brooks are the authors who's books I read over & over. That is, when I can find the time to read!
