I just returned a book to the library on the Lincoln Highway. "The Lincoln Highway : Coast to Coast from Times Square to the Golden Gate"
by Michael Wallis, Michael S. Williamson, Michael S. Williamson.

It had a lot of stories about the good old days and small towns along the old highways.

I never realized that Route 66 and the Lincoln Highway run together in Illinois!

But then I was really taken with the movie "Cars" too...

I wonder how many farmgirls live near one or the other of these two old roads? Maybe we could organize something coast-to-coast?

Route 66 ran right through my hometown of Springfield, Illinois, which is Lincoln Land, as it says on the Sangamon County license plates! It is now I-55, or parts of it, but I remember driving Route 66 all the time growing up, as we visited all the family that lived in the country near us!

Wow... Lincoln highway runs right by my office here in Evanston Wyoming. It is now called Bear River Drive, but in the day.... there is some organization out there that is trying to get more attention for the Lincoln Highway renvovations. I attended a meeting on that not too long ago. I think there will be some sort of group traveling through here this summer.
