I was at Barnes and Nobles today and was trying to grab a MaryJane book or Mag., nothing in the magazine racks and when I asked for help, they had no idea what I was talking about. Looked up on their computer and said that they had no books either...IS everything hard to find or did I ask someone stupid? Yes, I'm upset...It's raining here and I had my heart set on reading tonight

Hi girls.
The reason you're not finding our magazines at BN or other stores is that we haven't published one for about a year. BUT, we've taken on an advertising partner and will be relaunching our magazine this year! We'll publish four issues this year (the first comes out at the end of April) and six issues next year! You'll be able to find those in many more bookstores and magazines stands than before. Read MaryJane's latest post (about halfway down the page) about it here

I was trying to remember where I purchased the Life Book (bought that first, then a subscription to the mag from there) and I remember: I purchased it at Joseph Beth Booksellers in Hyde Park, Ohio. They had a whole stack of them, and one put on an easel on the mission table right in front of the checkout desk as "New Non Fiction"...it looked so heavenly there and when I opened it up, I had to have it. Didn't know who Mary Jane Butters was from the man in the moon!!!

Barnes and Noble seems to have a policy of stocking a smaller run book (ie, not Harry Potter!) when it is new but then not restocking when they are gone. Borders is better about restocking things in quantities of one or two. I think the issue with the magazines is that there is a long time between issues. When one issue is gone, the staff don't see it again for months. That can be the length of a whole career in retail. So it's understandable that they wouldn't be familiar with it! (Disclaimer: I used to work for Borders) Ordering straight from the source is probably the best way to go. Unless of course, you got a gift card for Christmas that you want to use up ;) |

The first magazine I ever bought was at Borders, and I've never seen on there again. I've NEVER seen a magazine at B and N. I've gotten all of my with orders from the farm.

i've gotten her books at books-a-million. the only magazine that i was able to get there was the farm kitchen one, and i never saw another mag. there again???? but i do see her books there. anyway, i'm going to order the magazines direct from MJ from now on so i don't have to wait and guess when a new one comes out, etc. |

Borders book stores carry MJF magazines & books. I too have never found it at Barnes and Noble. Borders has it in their Nature section for magazines. Good luck finding it.

We bought my MIL the Stitching Room as a last minute Christmas gift (wanted to buy the Life Book, but.....) our good friend who manages the "help desk" at the B&N at Newport on the Levee stated that there were no Life Books at any B & N in the region (which is like, MI, OH, KY, IN, WV etc...) and that it didn't appear that they would be getting any at all.... So, I went to the Florence store, happened to get a VERY nice person at the help desk who looked it up and found ONE copy of the Stitching book...so I snatched it.
I am all for buying directly from the farm, but, like I said, we were shopping on Christmas Eve, so.....Procrastinators must suffer the shame of buying from a big box on occasion.

I got my books straight from here on the site, but have found magazines in the past at the Barnes and Noble in Provo and have seen the big book there too (I already had mine of course..heehee) But I agree..ordering from the source works out best..and they are so quick about shipping!

I have had the same reaction too...they look and don't see it in their system, but are like "what the heck are you asking?" Yes, very disapointing....and I have been to 4 B&N in the Columbus, OH area too.

I've had the same reaction from B&N and Borders when I have asked if there is a new MJF magazine out. They have no idea what I'm talking about and really don't care to find out either. Very disappointing.

The best thing to do is order online from MJF. Their packages come super fast, and they have a stock of mags and books. I am sorry you do not have one to cozy up with tonight, but if you order online, it will come in a few days!
