Is anyone out there a Mildred Walker fan? I just read her book Winter Wheat. It takes place in 1940 out in Montana on a dry wheat ranch. The writing is so wonderful you feel as if you are out on the farm, struggling with the characters as they hope their farm produces against so many odds. And it's a great coming of age story, about a girl entering adulthood who is figuring out her place in the world and her parents' marriage. I am going to try and find her other books, some of which take place in Vermont, too. I hope lots of you discover this writer; she is just terrific!

On your recommendation, I bought Winter Wheat, and also, The Curlew's Cry...Found both at Half Price Books.
Thanks!

OMG! Another book to add to the list! LOL I'm gonna keep track of these authors and titles ya'll are recommending so I won't have such a long lapse in good reading material after finishing a book. Just like crafting, the finding another good craft to do once the last is finished is sometimes frustrating. Keep those ideas coming girls, I think it's great that we all can share a love of reading!
