It's the first in the "Father Tim" series entitled Home to Holly Springs Father Tim from Mitford goes back to his boyhood home.
I knew for a while it was coming out and just got my hands on it tonight! Just wondering if anyone else is reading it!

My g-ma got it for Christmas and finished it in a day now I just started it, but had a belly ache and stopped reading yesterday. Back to it tonight! :) Loved Mitford, I need a shirt that says that.

Me too!! Just finished it last night. Loved it. Now I am reading the first Sisters of the Quilt series (hope that is the right name) and it seems good so far.

Well, I did indeed get a signed copy of Home to Holly Springs for Chhristmas. I have finished it two weeks ago already. It had been years since I read anything by Jan Karon. Well, I laughed, I cried, I felt a kinship with the characters, and I altogether liked this new book. Very much.

I am almost done with this book and I have loved every minute of it. Tried to savor it and not rush through since it will be a while for the next one. My SIL will be taking it from me (and my Phillip Gulley books) as a respite from mysteries. She will love them all.

I love the Mitford series too (and every other book Jan Karon has written) I haven't gotten the first "Father Tim" book yet but I think its time.
Just wanted to thank Patsy for the Mitford link. What fun!! Okay, now I really do have to get some laundry done (its hard when you first get hooked on the "farmgirls chat"

I have a feeling there is a copy of the newest Mitford Series Karon book under the tree waiting for me - from my sister-in-law. She gave my grandkids a children's Karon book that was signed by the author, so I hope mine is too! I can't wait to read it.

I just started the newest book by Karon. So far I love it. I have not read any of hers for about a year, so it doesn't seem that different to me. Her writing is so clear and lovely. |

you know I just posted about this on a diff post, but I was bored when I first started them and then BOOM I read them all in a matter of a month and a half and now I have to look this one up. I love them. MJ and Mitford are my most cherished reading things:) oh and my organic style

I feel the same way with many of the books I read if they are series. I miss the characters and look forward to the next ones when they come out. The Monica Ferris books are like that. Every few months I have to read another one to see the people there again. The Mitford recipe book is gorgeous and also fun to read and cook from! Got it for Christmas last year and have been cooking with it. |

I saw the new one at Barnes and Noble . I have not purchased it as I am only on book 4 of the series. I had not become aware there was a series until someone on this forum posted about it. I too was bored with the beginning of the first book but after a while I really started enjoying them.
I just finished reading some books that I purchased at a yard sale this summer. (another series called Fairacre)
They are written by a women who goes by the pen name Miss Read. I enjoyed them, though I had only some of the series. I did not have the first book nor a few in the middle but I had the ending one. I really enjoyed those too. They are similar to Mitford ones but they focus on a headmistress at the school in Fairacre.

Saw it at Wal Mart yesterday for $18 hardback. I didn't get it yet...but I'd like to read it while you gals are. Sounds wonderful!

I am about halfway through and I really love it. It's a little more serious, dealing with Father Tim's past, but it is just such a good read.
Like Farmgirlannie, I have "visited" these books more than once; and like Cindy Lee, I was truly relieved to be "hearing" from dear Father Tim again! Silly, huh?

I cannot wait to read this book. My mom has it right now and I have first dibs on it after she is done. I've been through the Mitford series about four or five times. |

Yep, I am!!!! About half way done and I think it's good. I have to share a goofy thing I did when I started the new book, I read the first page and I started to cry! I realized that I misses my friend Father Tim!!!
I met Jan Karon last year and I can tell you she is the sweetest (and the cutest little thing) you would ever want to meet.
Rachel....try the books again. Although my Mom and one of my sisters were bored too. |

I have not read this book. I did not know that she had written it. Been busy for awhile, Shame on me. But I LOVED all the Mitford books, I have the Kitchen Reader and Cookbook. The recipes are awesome. I will have to look for the new one.

I think there is something wrong with me...I tried to read the first book in the Mitford series and was bored out of my mind. I think I need to try it again because the last time I tried was 2002! My attitude and life have changed and I'd probably like them now.

Yeah, Karin, my mom has finished it and said she didn't get the warm fuzzies like she did with the Mitford series. It's goofy, but I feel so connected that it's like reading a letter from a friend!

I just finished it last night. Be prepared for some big surprises!! I liked it. Not loved mind you, but really liked it a lot. I don't want to give anything away, so I will not say any more. :)

So far so good...I'm a REAL sucker for Mitford though. Father Tim has turned 70 and received a mysterious letter from Holly Springs that simply says "Come Home", so he does. Though the story starts in "current" times, I believe it will concentrate mostly on his growing up years.
