Has anyone read "Fifty Acres and a Poodle" by Jeanne Marie Laskas? I swear she wrote the book with all the beginning farm girls in mind. It's a fast read and quite funny and insightful at the same time.

I find most of my used books online at abebooks.com. I never pay more than $2 for a used book through this website! They have higher prices books too, of course, but most of it is quite cheap!

Thanks for this new recommendation - I'll look for The Land of Milk and Omelets! I've got one or two more chapters to go in 50 Acres and a Poodle. It has been a wonderful book! Need to look for the sequel to that, too.

I loved this book so much! Another that you all will probably really like is The Land of Milk and Omlets by Ken Kraft. I think it's out of print, but it's so good!

Fifty Acres and a Family!! I didnt' know this was out! I have a poodle and am a city girl that has always dreamed of a farm, so my fiance found this book for me and it was an obvious match. I will be looking for the family one now!

I have both "Fifty Acres and a Poodle" and "Fifty Acres and A Family". They are absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend them!

I ordered this from Alibris recently and have it all ready with a flashlight to ride out Hurricane Rita starting tonight!

Yes, there you are: "A terrifically funny, honest look at one woman's attempt to chuck her city life and take up life on the farm. With Anne Lamott-style humor, Laskas lets us know...how worthwhile all of her missteps and headaches have been. A charmer of a book, sure to cure any city girl's concrete blues."

well said!

I love this book. Do you have a paperback? There's a quote from me somewhere on the first few endorsement pages!
