Has anyone read the Ladies of Covington books by Joan Medlicott? They were mentioned in an article in my AARP magazine. I got online and ordered them from the library.

My library has the series but the only one there the other day was the Christmas one, so I am reading that now. How lovely and sweet it is so far. Just what you need in a fast-paced world sometimes!

Hey, gals! Julie, being the totally cool farm gal that she is, sent me the second and third Ladies of Covington to enjoy! Anybody who is even remotely thinking of reading this series should get on it like white on rice! Oh the luxury of having lots to read, paradise! Hugs, Nance

Nance: Put me on your list, too. I'll see what I've got and ship you some as well. Just email me an address. What kind of fiction do you like? Have you read the Mrs. Julia series by Ann Ross? You might like her books, if you haven't. Let me know! I'm hunting down the Covington books as we speak, as I haven't read them yet.

Frannie, hello there, you nut! I'd much rather be up to my elbows in grandkids than alligators. And yours sound so adorable anyway... I love gardening books, but since joining this forum you gals have really opened my eyes to the great fiction out there..... Gotta go, husband just whistled that the neat TV show is starting....my kind of French lesson, one with beautiful scenery! I will email you, gal pal. And did you get anything in the mail from France lately?? Hugs, Nance

Hey, farm gal pals! I was gifted recently by our wonderful farmgirl Corinne. I am running lllooooowwwww on reading material in English, and she sent me the first in the series. Last night was THE night, for the first chapter (I always read something good in bed)....clean fresh sheets from the clothesline, a quick shower and hee hee, leaped into bed to begin; I did not want to put it down after the first chapter, but in the desert we learn to ration our water, ha! Thanks again so much, Corinne, and you guys would enjoy this series I bet. I am definitely going to look for the others when I am in the states this autumn. Nance

Covington, NC. The basis for the story is about 3 ladies in their 60's that are put into a retirement home. There lives are so dull and boring. They decided they've have enough and take off for Covington, NC and buy a place. Then their lives go from there.

Hey Kay--what is the "Covington" they mention? I've seen them advertised, and always get a kick because I spend most of my waking minutes in "Covington", Kentucky....I actually started calling my lady co-workers the same...

Sounds like they are worth a read!

"She was built like a watch, a study in balance ... with a neck and head so refined, like a drawing by DaVinci"...
