Could you all list your favorite books on rural living, organic gardening, country crafts, etc?

I am always on the hunt for new books on these subjects and I have tried to sort thru the other lists. I found quite a few but may have missed some because of the length of the topics.

Appreciate it!!

May God bless those who love the soil,

Patsy

All of the books by Noel Perrin like FIRST PERSON RURAL, etc. Also there is a great book called EVERY FARM TELLS A STORY which was wonderful. I am reading EGGS IN THE COFFEE,SHEEP IN THE CORN right now and it is excellent also.

Ruth Stout's no work garden book, and Rodale Press put out a great hardback book on herbs about twenty years ago. Adelma Simmons' herb books are great, too. Bet they are all easily found on any of the discount book sites. For crafting and encouraging wildlife to visit, Sharon Lovejoy has a couple of good ones out. Happy reading! Nance

If I could only pick one, I'd chose Storey's Country Wisdom & Know How. It's a compendium of all of their booklets. You won't believe how much it contains, and on ALL subjects even vaguely related to homesteading.

Carla Emery's book - Encyclopedia of Country Living. I met her and listened to her speak at the Alternative Energy Fair in John Day Oregon a couple of years ago - she was great. She called me a couple of times after that to discuss things we had spoken about. It was a great loss when she unexpectedly died. Her book is well worth every penny if you have to buy it new, but you can probably find it at half.com.
