Have any of you read Janette Oke's books from the "Love comes softly" series? They are really good!!! I watched the movies made for them and loved them too. I enjoyed not haveing to worry that a sex scean was going to pop up next or some vilent bloody mess i would have you explain to my 3yr old. I really enjoyed the first one, my marrage was not arranged but not really planed either. Understanding how love can come softly helped me to get through some bad days. I would'nt give my husband up for nothing now!!!

If you haven't read the Harmony series by Philip Gulley, you would all like them too. They are excellent stories and wholesome too!

I think halmark channel or lifetime is doing a marathon of all the janette oke movies sometime soon. I recently saw a comercial. I don't think it has already happened but time passes so quickly anymore it is hard to keep up.

I LOVE the Janette Oke "Love Comes Softly" series!!!! I read them about every 5 years or so. I have since in the late 80s early 90s. My mother used to laugh at me when I told her I was reading "Christian Fiction." She for some reason thought that was funny. I have gotten her hooked though. But, I haven't had her read Oke yet.

That is so great about your marriage. I married my high school sweetheart, so I cannot even imagine losing him and marrying someone else. (like the main character in the first Oke book) I can totally relate to her cooking issues. That was funny.

Yes, I enjoyed the movies too. My daughter (6yrs) calls them "cowgirl" movies and she loves to watch them.

I also enjoyed the the Mitford series by Jan Karon.

I wish there were many many more authors like these two! I will have to look for Tracey Bateman. I have seen Lori Copeland. I didn't think I would like her, but I can give her a try.

My grandma gave me the set of books when I was a kid and I loved them. I wish I knew what happened to them. Probably one of my sisters stole them! I just watched the movies not long ago- hope they have them on tv again soon. I want to buy the books too. Definitely one of my favorite series. Another book I really like that is similar is "Kansas Home" by Tracey Bateman.

Hi Farmgirls,

I do enjoy reading Jannette Oke books. Another author is Lori Copeland. Her Men of the Saddle series was very good.

I love Janette Oke! And that series was probably my favorite of her's. I have only watched the first movie and part of the second.

I read them back in high school (seems like ages ago!) and liked them a lot. I've been thinking about getting the set and re-reading it again.
