This morning, Aly, our two year, tried to help in the kitchen. Sammi was making me a cup of tea, while Brad was working on breakfast. In the process, Aly dumped a scalding hot cup of water/tea (apparently the tea bag had not made it to the mug yet) down her left side. She has second degree burns from her left shoulder to her finger tips, as well as her left rib cage. She was taken to MUSC ER via ambulance. They scrubbed the dead skin off, in efforts to reduce risk of infection, and bandaged her up. On Monday we start seeing the burn center.

Our family greatly appreciates your prayers through this! We have no idea, as of yet, what we are looking at as far as healing time frame, dressing changes, etc. But our Father in Heaven does! And we are comforted knowing once again that this did not come as a surprise to Him, and He has it all under control!

Update 2/23: We took Aly to the burn center yesterday... All things considered, it went well. They scrubbed all the blisters and skin off her hand and redressed everything. I have to change the dressings here at home tomorrow, as well as take pictures to email in to the burn center. Depending on how they look, will determine when we bring her back in to them. The burns are bad... but hopefully with her being so young, she will heal quickly.

I would say have some tea and relax with your bible, but perhaps no tea... Either way, please try to rest.

Thank you ladies!

Alicia - we have her medicated and she is resting right now.... Now just to get my head to quit racing. I took a bath, but I don't know that it helped much. Alarm is set to give more meds at midnight :(

Oh Shannon. I have had those same burns. They are so painful. But I did recover without scars ( I was 2 years old). I am glad she is getting care. God bless your whole family.

Shannon, praying for her. My niece pulled a huge coffee urn onto her self when she was 2 or 3. Surprisingly enough I think she has very little scarring. She had to wear something that looked like an ace bandage but in t shirt form. Prayers for the doctors you will see too.
