Posted - May 21 2015 : 4:34:29 PM We have been having issues with a neighbor recently. Today she threatened to get her gun and "take care of" me that way, after spraying me with a garden hose. Simply put, I am petrified to live here, to have my children outside... Because my children were the only witnesses, the police can only write a report. To top it off, I had a report written against me for harassment, for hammering in nails into the fence between her yard and ours (they were coming out). I am so scared!
UPDATE: I have made it outside once, other than going to the car to leave, since all this happened! This is a HUGE praise! I have also stopped having anxiety attacks as soon as we enter the development! My kids are still struggling. My 4 yo prays every day that we do not get shot. Nightmares still happen. My 6 yo will not get out of the car on the side nearest that neighbor, but rather climbs over the other seats to go out the other side. BUT it truly is getting better! The kids have played outside a little, with their daddy right next to them. The dog has adjusted to not being let outside except when hubby is home. But perhaps the best news is we have a rental lined up! We are moving on the 6th of july. Anyone want to help? LOL. We would appreciate prayers regarding us moving - that we do not get injured, as I am 6 months or so pregnant and hubby has a really bad back (more herniated discs and surgery has to wait until AFTER the medical board the AF is doing!). Also that we can quickly sell our house after we move, as we have no clue how we are going to pay both rent and a mortgage - but we do know that God will provide and we need to get out of this house!

Posted - May 26 2015 : 2:47:48 PM Shannon I believe the Lord will get a word to us when we have a need. The Sunday sermon on worry was such a time. Worry is bad because it eats away at our faith and in times of trail we need active faith.

Posted - May 26 2015 : 12:52:39 PM Sunday's sermon was on worry - and how worry is a sin.... It was actually an encouragement, though I expected to get my toes stepped on, lol. By keeping busy and productive, I find that I do not dwell on it as much. We still do not go outside, which is hard, but we are looking into a lot of houses right now. There is a chance we will not be moving until July 1st, so I'm not happy about that, but I'm sure God has a wonderful place for us! We have decided to take out a personal loan in order to give us the funds to remodel some things in this house (in a hurry) in order to sell it... we usually put a little bit aside each month to fix things up, but we want to get everything done quickly.

Posted - May 26 2015 : 05:26:56 AM Thank you all! We spent the weekend searching for a rental and staying away from the house as much as possible. When we were home, we were working on improvement projects and packing. I am hoping to get the kids to a park this week... they need space to run! The hardest part of that will be driving... I have a panic attack as soon as we get close to the neighborhood! Going to look at the inside of a house today... and then start setting up other showings. Everything was closed this weekend with it being a holiday! BUT at least hubby was home! For the most part, we are doing alright. It is more emotional/fear that we are dealing with right now. Last night was the first night none of the kids had nightmares, so a definite improvement!

Shannon...Even though it's not easy to have to uproot your family so quickly...I am sure that God has many blessings just around the corner for you and your family...I guess the ladies behavior is just evidence of the signs of the times...and your children definitely don't need to live in a place where they and you are afraid for them to even go outside...I once heard Dr. Charles Stanley(First Baptist Church Atlanta Georgia)preaching on television many years ago...He said when you have bitterness and anger inside of you...that it's like a volcano...sooner or later it's going to erupt and not just on you but everyone around you...sounds like this is what may be happening here...Many prayers are going up for you and your loved ones...
Hugs!

Posted - May 23 2015 : 08:26:11 AM I honestly think the neighbor has a medical imbalance and has gone off her medications. We have seen her do this to other people in the past... and they have all moved. We are going to do the same. I do not know if the others put in police complaints or not... but i know I cannot let my children outside. As a homeschool family that does not own a television, this is difficult! A lawyer and restraining orders take money we do not have. Going to court takes money we do not have. I stay at home to school my six children wit number 7 on the way. Hubby is active duty military. He works crazy hours and is paid less then minimum wage. We live pay check to pay check. That is the life of enlisted military personnel! But it is one my hubby takes great pride in... I do pray for our neighbor... she is a very bitter woman. I pray for the people that will own this house next. I pray for the rest of the neighbors. But most often, I pray for the safety of my children! Her targets are generally happy marriages of younger children... I just want to get away from her as quick as possible!

Posted - May 23 2015 : 08:03:44 AM Restraining orders are difficult to enforce especially if that person is a neighbor. I fear that a restraining order will only make the situation worse. I believe that you do not have to list your home. When you leave, the neighbor will probably turn her attention to someone else thus producing a pattern and THAT will be noticed. I would wait it out. Take care, wherever you go, that the neighbor doesn't continue to harass you by stalking your family. I don't mean to scare, however; from the description you have given, it seems as if this person is obsessed with you and your family. Personally, I feel compassion for this neighbor. Imagine how much pain they must be in to treat you in such a bad fashion. Remember that her behavior is not directed at you but at a circumstance in their life that they cannot control so they are trying to control something else. This is my perception.

Posted - May 22 2015 : 05:43:15 AM Shannon, I am so sorry and appalled at the behavior of your neighbor!! Yes, you and hubby need a place to keep the children safe until a different living situation is possible. I will be praying that you and dh will find some temporary arrangements until a permanent solution is available. In the meantime, hopefully there are public parks and spaces you can take your children everyday for outdoor play and fun. I am glad you called the police and had the incident documented regarding the gun threat. I agree with Amy that your neighbor has some serious mental health issues and you have to protect yourself and family. I hate hearing about all of this ugly stuff happening and while I don't have a Bible verse that comes to mind, I will keep you all in my prayers for safety and resolution to the many big problems that are currently on your plate!

Posted - May 22 2015 : 05:29:04 AM Oh Shannon, this is so terrible! I pray for you, and I know your faith will go a long way to sustain you. I just wish there was something more we could do. Your neighbor obviously is more than unhappy, she has serious mental health issues, so I pray for her too. But I have to admit I'd also like to punch her in the nose (better pray on that, too!). God bless and protect you and your family.
