Hi, My only daughter is leaving in two days to go away to college. It is about two hours from home, but it will still be difficult to get used to her not being around the house. I have a husband so I am not alone, but my daughter and I had a special relationship that no one ever could fill. Please pray for her protection, for my mental health(I suffer from depression and anxiety but I am on medication for them), and for great wisdom and discernment concerning my daughter and her boyfriend, who will be going to the same college. He isnt a bad kid, but I just want her to be able to be open to different relationships as well. Thanks so much in advance for your prayers!!
In His Name....Nancy

Nancy,

It is hard to watch our kids go away to college. Our youngest just left our home in Phoenix today and returned for his junior year of college...in New Jersey! I don't think that it gets any easier to see the kids leave, but I have increasing confidence in their ability to create their lives and take care of themselves. Saying a prayer for your daughter ...and for my son. I hope that they both have wonderful years.

Prayers are on the way. I have gone thorough sending our 3 kids off to school and understand how different home seems with your child out in the world. That is one of the hard parts, seeing them as adult rather than just your child. I love a quotation that says something like, "You have given them roots, now let them develop their own wings."
Try to trust yourself, that you have given her the wisdom to deal with opportunities and dangers she may face. Your close relationship really allowed you to give more than some other Mom could give her daughter.
Her boyfriend may turn out to be the one for her, but she and he will be meeting other people and that too can evolve.

Prayers are sent for both her and you. This is such an exciting yet frightening time in parents lives. I pray your relationship will grow in other ways and be just as special.

Wow! This hit home with me so much...my daughter is only
12, but she's my one and only. I do have a wonderful husband, however
my daughter is the light of my life. God gifted me with such a wonderful
friend in her. I can only imagine what you are going through and I will
be praying for you because I know one day I will also need it in return.
I will pray for her protection, as well as, strength for you.
Consider yourself hugged!
