I need your prayers. The short version of a very long story is that my brother's alcoholism has torn our family to shreds. He's in jail now, which is where he needs to be, but my family is left in emotional and physical tatters. I'm afraid that one member of my family has turned to alcohol herself, ironically enough, in order to cope. For years, I've begged my parents to give him tough love but they don't know how, and as a result, they've been abused and manipulated. Their health is failing and they have no idea how to deal with the reality that has become our family.

I just... I need prayers. My family needs prayers. My faith is so weak these days. I've prayed for years for things to get better and they've only gotten worse. I'm heartsick and helpless.

Prayers, positive thoughts - please send those out into the universe. It would mean a lot.

Oh Rachel, I am sending you BIG hugs and virtual tea. I am so sorry that your family is going thru all this just now. You, my dear sister, are surrounded by prayer warriors. Many prayers (including mine) are going to Heaven on your behalf. Many strong, warm thoughts sent out into the universe. Come here and feel comforted and strengthened and held up to Him who heals all because when all else seems dark, when the giving up of hope seems just around the corner, HE is there in the darkness. HE is still loving you and your family and HE will not desert you, your siblings or your parents. It is sometimes SO hard to live in faith when things are difficult, but that is when it is most important. Two sayings support me thru dark times (well many actually, but these are in my heart today..) "Be still and know that I am God." It is easy to get caught up in the worry and fret and this verse calms me, reminds me to have tea and leave it in God's hands. If HE created the universe, He can certainly deal with my life. AND as my aunt told me when I was in my own dark time, "The God of the mountain is the same God in the valley." Rachel, you are not alone. Breathe, pant if you have to, but don't give up hope or faith. God is there. We are all there, supporting you.
Hugs and care sent to you, Joey

Rachel, I'm so sorry about what's happened. It's true, jail might just be for the best, though I am certain it is difficult to wrap your head around that right now.

I am praying for all.

Rachel, I am praying for all of you, too. I really do understand how alcoholism can affect a family. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Please don't give up hope. The last thing the enemy wants is for us to pray and to succeed in prayer, so we come under spiritual attack. The enemy wants us to give up, wants us to lose hope and he does whatever he can to make us lose heart. He is relentless, but so must we be. When prayer strikes a nerve the spiritual attack becomes more intense. But take heart: "You are of God, little children, and have overcome him. Because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." - 1 John 4:4. Also remember: "Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13. Stay strong, and please find great comfort and peace in knowing you have a spiritual army of farmgirl sisters standing up with you against the evils coming against you and your loved ones. Jesus promised us: "Again I say to you, that if two of you shall consent upon earth, concerning any thing whatsoever they shall ask, it shall be done to them by my Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 18:19. And we can trust the word of God: "So shall my word be, which shall go forth from my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall do whatsoever I please, and shall prosper in the things for which I sent it." - Isaiah 55:11. "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” - Matthew 19:26 "For with God shall nothing be impossible." - Luke 1:37 Let your faith be strong. Do NOT lose heart. Godspeed, sister. Godspeed. Hugs and love - Nini

Rachael, I will put you and your family on my prayer list for peace, and that God will take care of your parents so that they can learn to deal with this as well and to help them with their health. I will pray that your family member that might have turned to alcohol will see what she is doing to herself and to all of you and that she will realize what she is doing to all of you as well and also to help your family be able to work together as a family and able to get strength to help each other in this situation. I pray that your brother will get help in jail and be able to turn himself around before it is to late. God be with you all and give you peace.

Rachel,

I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. I am praying that your brother will recognize that he needs help (and your sister) and I am also praying for wisdom for all involved along with restoration. We don't always get our prayers answered when or how we want but God knows exactly what He is doing. Do not lose heart, He is in control and your brother is probably where he needs to be right now to see what he truly needs.

I will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Me and trust in Me.

I know exactly what you are going through. Having been raised by an alcoholic mother and then my brother and sister becoming the same, then having both my daughters go through all this. I have walked in your shoes. I only hope that being in jail will help your brother. As long as your parents don't get him out, he's better off there. For now anyway. But it's only up to your brother which way this will go. I will be thinking of you all and sending up good thoughts for a good outcome. I hope he will meet someone there who will lead him in the right direction.

Hugs, Kris
