He finally went to see a specialist for his prostate after the dr has wanted him to for over a year now....and the specialist he saw is fearing the worst. He'll be having a biopsy scheduled and he of course is worried more about me than himself should it be the worst. While a small part of me is wanting to freak out,I'm also bearing in mind that there's not enough known yet to warrant that. Would appreciate any good thoughts and prayers sent his way for a clean diagnosis or at least an easily curable form of it should it be cancer. Kinda shocking to us both tho he's suspected it but not done anything.

Just to update everyone here... Dads eye continues to heal well,he can drive again, and my next DMV test is for May 23rd. Please hold good thought for a blossoming relationship for me,that it continues to grow and deepen. The guy & I hit it off really well, met at a music store, and something upsetting happened in his personal life-don't know what, but he didn't contact me for about 2 weeks. He just texted me this morning twice. Thank you ladies for your positive thoughts and continued prayers. Hoping he calls tonight to fill me in.

Oh Sherrie maybe that was for a reason the road was closed and it will give you more practice and confidence in yourself. My prayers continue for you to pass your driving test and the healing of your dad.

Driving test update: It didn't happen despite my best effort-the road the DMV is on was [i][closed!!!/i] I tried to find a detour in and couldn't. Missed my test and very bummed out. Will need to reschedule.

Dad's eye seems to be healing well but we won't know how good his vision will be for 3 months when the oil drop and buckle are removed.
His tooth seems to be fixed tho he still has an infection in the bone and is on a 2nd series of penicillin.
It's been a pretty stressful couple of weeks. Am taking my driving test on Tuesday afternoon. Hoping I pass. Had a couple of days of bone headed driving mistakes which I take is my reacting to the stress and being tired. He's also becoming more critical of my driving even when I'm not doing anything wrong....like parking at the curb.
Prayers for peace between us,safe journeys, and passing the test will be appreciated.

The surgery was successful procedure wise, and I'm giving him his eye drops 4 times a day. Getting out there and driving to stores and the like. Making less mistakes, trying to get a date for the test but the DMV is totally booked at this point. So I'll keep checking.
continued prayers are appreciated. He has stitches in his eye that will melt as it heals and is the eye ever red from the procedure. OIl was also injected into the eye to hold the repair in place. His next follow up is next week.

My prayers continue for you both and that they fix his retina to where it will stay strong this time and for you that you get good practice Parking. It isn't easy for us who drive regularly either. It depends on the car you drive too. Some are easier to see backing up.
I have trouble with the car I have now when I back up. The back end is raised and I can't see over it. I drove a large Ford once and had no problem back it down a road. The back was flat.

Have a good weekend.

Thank you Annika! Well-on the bright side the retina is fixable,I'm driving more which is what I needed to do,tho both of us wouldn't mind having a lazy day at home. We're accustomed to going out once or twice a week-not daily as we have been doing. Hoping tomorrow will be that day. And I realised I need to settle myself down, get centered, and just be there for him. Playing an instrument helps.
He's discouraged at this point because he didn't think it would happen again. And he loves visual stuff like photography and airplanes. So keeping an eye on him (no pun intended)

Sherrie, it never rains but it pours huh? First of all ((HUGS)) it's an emotional roller coaster and exhausting going through this with some one that you love. Take time out to breath, center your self and find peace. It's hard to relax and come down sometimes when the hits just keep coming. I have and elderly father with an endless array of issues and I end up feeling like I'm running to keep up all of the time.

Prayers for protection, peace, strength and focus to you and your dad.

UPDATE: Dad now has another torn retina-same eye as a little over a year ago-he told me yesterday. Had a terrible time trying to get a specialist to see him due to it being a Friday. His field of vision is literally cut in half. Got him in and he will be having eye surgery on Tuesday if everything goes according to plan.
We're both just shaking our heads over this, and while I firmly believe all things happen for a reason, this is just mind blowing. And frightening for us-he's concerned about his vision, which the Dr says will be fine, but we found out that once you have one tear, the scar tissue makes your eye vulnerable to another tear. And there's never any warning. She thinks he's had this awhile now,and because it's at the bottom of the eye, gravity held it in place for who knows how long.
Well needless to say I'm doing a lot of driving and he's feeling bad about that. Every day this past week we've had to be somewhere, and I was going to schedule the test for the next week. Right now I just want to get him thru the operation and see how he does- my parking skills leave a lot to be desired (which is why I haven't taken the test before now-just got my permit renewed early this year) now but hoping all this going will remedy that.
Continued prayers of healing, protection, and peace will be appreciated. I feel so bad for him.

Sherrie,
Prayers are with you and your dad. It is good that you are going ahead with getting your driver's license. It will be a help to your dad to know you are taking care of yourself and what needs to be done to feel more able to help him. Keep us informed how things are going.

Sherrie I have a friend that believes in the power of Apple cider vinegar, It really does work.
I think you are doing a smart thing with not getting the biopsy until the infection is gone, it could spread to other parts when doing the biopsy, It is safer that way and who needs misery in more places than one. Teeth problems are bad enough on their own.
Prayers continuing for your Dad.

Sorry to hear your dad is having other problems but that is very interesting about the vinegar, it is amazing stuff.

How's your driving going, got that license yet?

UPDATE: Dads tooth started bothering him,and thankfully I still had the # of a highly recommended dentist from a friend. Found out one of his capped teeth was very infected, and the dentist cleaned it out and is allowing it to drain before sealing it back up. Dad is on antibiotics for the next week or so.
We're postponing the biopsy till the infection and tooth are completely cleared up. (Even tho the dr doing the biopsy feels that is un-necessary) We just don't feel it's smart to get too many things going at once, and I don't feel doing any other medical procedures with an infection in the body is smart. Your continued prayers are very very much appreciated.
As an interesting side note,Dad has been taking 1 TBSP of apple cider vinegar every morning to keep his cholestoral down for awhile now,and interesting to note it also lowered his psa number somewhat.
Very relieved to have a dentist again.

UPDATE: The dr is back from vacation and the biopsy is scheduled for 4/10/13 around 9AM. Prayers for a good result and quick healing from the procedure please.
And a request for myself:
I've put off taking my driving test forever and feel this is the time to be fully licensed. Prayers that I pass the test before Dad has his biopsy would be an additional blessing. I always feel like a novice behind the wheel and sometimes still get really nervous. Dad never feels I have "arrived" or am "ready" to take it tho he's been much easier on me since this whole biopsy matter has started.
