I don't know what to think of this.

On Christmas night, my grown son, who was visiting from out of town, had a sudden seizure. It was unexpected, since he's never had anything like this before.

We dealt with it, got him to the hospital in an ambulance, and they ran a bunch of tests. They found slightly elevated liver enzymes and dehydration. He was also taking a medication that is known to cause seizures. All the tests are inconclusive. We still don't know what caused this.

He has gone back home, but without his car. They will not let him drive until he has been evaluated by a neurologist. He has no memory of what happened, so we have to wait to see if there is damage to his brain.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we sort this all out.

Continued prayers will be offered. Our children never outgrow our concern and worry. I'm thankful that God can carry that load for me. Smiles, Beth

He is still waiting to see the neurologist, but he says he feels much better. He is back on his organic diet, and I think it's going to help him a lot.

I will let you all know when the final tests come back. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Phyllis, Just saw this post and am so glad that the tests were negative. My daughter had a seizure at age 18 months. They did a whole neuro work up and everything was negative. She's 35 now and has never had another siezure. Praying that it will be the same for your son. Joey

Oh no Phyllis .... I remember when my son had his first grand mal seizure. Very scary. He was 8 years old. They did all of these test on him. They said he had epilepsy. He started seeing a neurologist and has been on seizure med. Every since n. He is 22 years old now. He has not had a seizure in about 12 years now. He now takes just one tablet before he goes to bed. Good luck you are in my prayers. My son has a speech and language problem due to the couple of seizures he had.

Phyllis,

Glad to hear your son's test came back normal. That alone is super news to hear. Will continue to pray until he has a full recovery and is once again back home with his family.

Also praying that our Heavenly Father will continue to bless you and give you the strength you need to also get through this ordeal.

Hugs Sweetie!

I'm so glad the test results came back okay, Phyllis! Let's hope that the doctors are right and that it was just the unique combination of stresses on his body that caused this to happen, and that he'll be okay from this point! Poor guy - how scarey, though. I hadn't even thought about this happening when he was driving! Thank God that wasn't the case! Keep us posted, okay? Hugs - Nini

We just keep thinking how lucky we are that we wasn't driving home when this happened. He could have killed himself and others.

I talked to him today. He went to see his GP to get a referral to the neurologist. All of his tests came back negative for brain damage, but he has to get clearance from the neurologist before they will let him drive again.

The GP seems to think that it may have been a combination of things. He was taking a new medication, and he hasn't been sleeping enough hours. That and the fact the he was dehydrated, and they think his brain just short-circuited for a brief period of time. We're hoping that's all it is. We won't have the final word for another week, but things are looking up.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts. Farmgirls are the best.

I'll be praying for him, for you and for some answers so he and you will know what's going on.
