somehow Gus got onto the highway and a driver (one single stinkin' driver) ran him over (and never stopped).

He is dead.

Please pray....the sheriff cannot do a thing....please pray

So sorry to hear about your beloved dog. I lost one this exact same way and it isn't a pleasant thing for anyone or family to go through. My thoughts and prayes are going out to you and your family. Give your son a big hug for me.

Here is the letter that I am sending to the editor of several area papers. I hope that if it was a true accident, that they will knock on my door and speak to my son directly.

"This letter is to the person(s) that hit an animal in front of our home of ****** and before ******, on the evening of December 19th, 2012. The noise of it carried into our home.

You didn’t hit a deer or raccoon. You hit our family dog and killed him. You also left behind your front license plate that was still attached to your front fender, which the sheriff now has.

Why did you not stop? Was it not an accident? We will never know since you drove off.

You should know that our son was out with the dogs when you hit and killed Gus. I had to witness my son cradling his lifeless dog’s body, while tears flowed from anger and grief. I had to witness my 16 year-old daughter screaming to the sky, hands into the air, expelling her pain. I had to watch the kids, come outside, one by one and bend over in pain and weep. Our entire household is grieving, and our hearts are heavy.

If it was an accident, you should have stopped. But you didn’t."

Oh Kristina
I am so sorry, I just can't think straight about this and it just makes me sick that there are so many out there that really don't care and just amazes me that nothing can be done about it.
So Unfair!
My prayers are going strong for you sweet lady,

Oh Kristi, I am soooo very sorry,,, I just spotted your post...My heart goes out to you, your family...truly the loss of a beloved pet is just as hard as the loss of a family member...
Hugz to you all....
Darn ugly people who don't own up to their mistakes,,,, the right thing to have done,,, would have been to own up, taken responcibility and say, "I am so very sorry"... 3 little words...'I am Sorry'... can make all the difference in the world, it won't changed what happen but it will soften the situation.

Kristina,

I feel your pain. I have also lost a family pet this way. A school bus sliding on ice ended up in my front yard and hit and killed my dog just 2 days before I had my heart surgery a year ago. My dog was 12 years old. They are like our children, and such a major part of our every day life. The poor bus driver felt so bad. I felt bad for her as well. She wanted to replace our dog. I told her he could never be replaced. Then we just both hugged and cried.

Part of the problem was that we live on a corner with 2 extra lots, she took the corner to fast, and begin to slide out of control.

For someone to hit a dog and not stop is terrible. I cannot believe the sheriff would not even go talk with them. How sad. What was your dogs name?

Please know that I am praying for you and your family.

Hugs to you and all of your family.

Oh Kristina, I am so sorry. I just saw this post and my heart just sank for you. I will never understand how someone could just leave the scene of an accident like that. I am so sorry. Praying for you and your family. I know what it is like to loose a part of the family, but this is in such a tragic way.
Hugs to you,

I am so sorry Kristina. I know how you feel and I know your heart is breaking. Hugs and prayers to your family. I have lost 2 pets this year both of them in December and one was to fowl play. It left me sick and heartbroke. I hope with time the pain will lessen for your family. Once again I am so sorry. Hugs.

Kris,
So sorry for your loss ... I know what it is like to have a pet hit by a car. And sad that the person did not even stop and say anything to you.
