Sandy looks like the mama of all storms and I'm just starting a love, prayers, comfort and support thread for all of you in it's wake. I've lit a candle and am sending love and strength to all of you. Please be careful! You can get another house, not so much a life.

Blessings <3

Thanks Laurie for updating us. The pics from NY are so bad. It breaks my heart. So glad you are hanging in there. Sending on-going hugs and carind.
Hi Nicole, SO glad that you are OK. We're fine but I am a little worried. We will leave Wednesday AM to head south. That means we will be driving into the nor'easter and the gas situation in NY scares me a little because my car eats gas. Hope to be to the NC farm by Friday. Will keep you posted. Joey

Nicole,
Glad to see that you are ok, and that you have power back on. Yes, it is really just unbelievable, when you look all around you. So many have lost so much. Now with the gas crisis its getting even scarier! I am down to an 1/8 of a tank, so hoping I can just sit still over the weekend and the tankers will start to get fuel out here to the Island. People are really starting to panic.
I am sure your local volunteer firefighters will enjoy the homemade cookies from your heart- that is wonderful of you to give back to them.
Hugs from across the Sound,

~Laurie

So glad to see Joey and Laurie here! Joey I was worried, knowing you are driving back soon. We are okay and got power back yesterday. My DH and I are having a hard time dealing with all this...we are good but there is so much destruction, injury, and death all around the tri-state area. One of my best friends has her parents in NJ on the shore and have not heard from them yet. My DH is having his long work commute so much longer due to New Yorkers coming to CT for gas. It's so scary to see everyone panic like this. My heart goes out to all the people who lost everything and loved ones. It's so sad. I'm baking a tray of cookies for our local fire house tomorrow as they are there giving out food and water day and night. It's not much, but want to do something for my local guys as they have helped us on more than one occasion.

Thanks for the prayers- there are so-o-o-o many people who need them- things are BAD for many. I am one of the fortunate ones for sure. I updated on the
"Across the Fence" thread under Safety from Sandy.
Can only update while at work since I have no internet etc at home.

Checking in here from Long Island. I am at work where there is power and internet etc, at home I do not have any connection to the rest of the world.
We made it thru with minimal damage at my home, but MANY all around have lost EVERYTHING!
Houses, have been swallowed by the Great South Bay, so much underwater, and over 700,000 here on Long Island alone without power. Schools closed again today, and I would venture to guess they will be for the rest of the week.
Praying for everyone who have lost personal property, memories, and their homes, yet thankful that most are safe.
I will check in again when I can, as I said, no internet etc at home so going day by day.
Hugs,

~Laurie

Heard from my aunts in Philly, PA. They have lost power but have a gas stove and were well prepared and are doing fine. I can truly breathe easier now. They are all in their seventies and they are my heart. All is well.
Saw pics today of the Jersey shore and NYC/Long Island. I also read where people were surfing in Chicago! Oh, it breaks my heart how many people have been effected by this. Such incredible pics. Sending prayers for all that aare dealing with this huge storm.

DH and I are fine here in Boston, although many around us have lost power. Saying prayers for all on the east coast, especially NYC. What a MESS. Haven't heard from my aunts in Phila, but I know they got hit badly. Joey

Thank you Annika, Marly and Roxanna. Yes this does not look good at all. Here on Long Island (NY) we are preparing for the worst, yet hoping and praying for the best. I have plenty of canned goods, have extra propane for the gas grill, as well as wood for campfires. Cars are full with gas, and oil lamps are ready to go. We have battened down the hatches, and thought of everythign we can so we are prepared for the loss of power. My house is surrounded by ALOT of BIG trees, so when the wind really starts to kick in tonight we will most likely retreat to the safety of the basement. Havent had any word yet as to wether they are cancelling school tomorrow and Tuesday, but I would imagine they will be.
We do not have a generator, but are ready to "make-do" however we have to.
Hopes and Prayers for all those in the path of Sandy!
Hugs,

~Laurie
