My dear son was invloved in a freak accident the other night. He and a friend had stopped to help a man who had lost the transmission on his truck. They were towing him back to his home. As the approached his home, they had to cross the road at an intersection. My son was standing in the road, when a lady came around the corner and hit the tow rope. She was going 30 - 40 mph. This caused the rear truck to swing around toward her vehicle. To avoid being caught between the two vehicles, my son tried to jump over the tow rope.

His foot got caught and it was crushed between the truck and the tow rope. He has multiple broken bones in his foot. He fell hard on his shoulder and has a separated shoulder.

Please pray to Heavenly Father, thanking Him for keeping my boy from being crushed by those two vehicles. I am very aware of His hand in that tender mercy and am thankful to Him for continuing to love me.

Update - My DS is doing really well. The xrays show that his foot is still broken, but is starting to heal. He is not going to have to have surgery, as the bones have stayed in alignment. The doc said four more weeks in a walking boot, but no hard cast. Jake is very happy about that.

His shoulder has separated more since the accident, but the doc says that it has now stabilized. This means no surgery. Yay! The plan is to rest it for two more weeks and start physical therapy after that.

Some very good news is that the insurance company is kicking in for some lost wages, so he won't be broke. If he's broke, that means I have to pay his bills. Then, I am broke. :)

Thanks for all your well wishes and your prayers are working every day in our lives. The blessings of God and Farmgirls are very apparent in my life.

Wow, reading all your precious thoughts brought tears to my eyes this morning. I am so thankful for the love and support I feel from all of you.

Update on Jake - He is doing quite well, better than I could have imagined. His pain level is still pretty high, but he has reduced the pain meds on his own, so that tells me that he is handling it better. One sign of God's grace is that he had the desire to go to church on Sunday, which hasn't happened for quite sometime. Whether this was an opportunity to get out of the house or a real need for spiritual guidance, I don't know. I'm not going to question God's little tender mercies. Jake did say that the only friends who have come to see him are folks from the church. Looks like God is working in His own way and in His own time.

I continue to pray for his recovery and to thank the Lord for his life. Please continue as well. It is clearly working!

First of all, thanks so much for all your prayers. I know that God listens intently to Farmgirls because of all the good you do!

Update on Jake - He is doing as well as can be expected. We had him at the doctor yesterday to remove some packing from a deep cut on his arm. That is healing nicely and will not need to be re-packed. We are going to get a wheelchair for him today. Using crutches is impossible as he cannot put any weight on his right foot and his left shoulder is buggered up. He is 6'4" and 220 pounds so carrying him to the pot is getting old for my hubbie. :) Another blessing has been that God has inspired his employer to hold his job.

Keep up the prayers as they are clearly working!!!!

Thanks so much. I know I can always come to my farmgirls for love and support.

Remember… Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body. Instead, you should slide in sideways, glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, in a body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming “Woohooo! What a ride!”

Oh my goodness, Sherone! I will definitely pray for your son!!! I am praising God and I am so grateful that the Lord spared his life and that this injury - although I'm sure it's painful and he is suffering with it - is "all" that happened to him. I will pray that the Lord quickly heal his body and knit together all his bones and muscles and sinews and cartilege to even better than they were originally; that all his pieces and parts are miraculously placed back in their right places without delay (whether the doctor knows about them or not); that there will be no further complications or lingering maladies as a result of his injuries; that the Lord guide and direct the doctors and nurses who are caring for him in wisdom and keen insight; and that while he is recovering, his suffering is mild, that all his needs are met, and that he has peace. God bless him in all of this, especially for his kindheartedness in helping others in THEIR time of need! Hugs - Nini
