My dad has been the picture of health until about 6 months ago. He turned 84 this year. He started feeling bad a few months ago. It has progressively gotten worse and we went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago. He is in full blown heart failure. The cardiologist has given him only weeks to live if there is no intervention. He is mentally all there but physically he is much too weak to live through any surgery. The cardiologist has worked tirelessly to find something that may help. There is a new procedure where they can replace the damaged heart valve without having to do open heart surgery. It is still in the trial studies and my dad's cardiologist has gotten us an appointment with the one of the surgeons that is doing it. We go to Houston on April 10 for a consult. Please pray that dad can remain strong until the appointment and that they will be able to do the surgery. I have pretty much been consumed by taking care of dad and have not been able to be online much. I will try to keep you updated. But please keep him in your prayers. His name is Kenneth.

Begin each morning with a song in your heart.

We are still waiting to hear from the National Board set up for the trial surgery. Dad is getting so weak. I hope he can hold on long enough for the surgery. At our cardiology consult last Weds they said it would be 10 - 14 days to find out if we have approval for the surgery. We should hear something mid next week. He seems to be slipping away so quickly. Mentally he is still completely with it but physically he can barely hold his head up. Keep him in your prayers.

Begin each morning with a song in your heart.

Keep those prayers going ladies. Dad actually sat up and ate dinner at the table today. First time in a couple of months. I have been spending so much time with him that the small things seem to slip by me but my sister went by today to visit him and she said she could really see some improvement. It's like the talk of the possible surgery has given him hope. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Begin each morning with a song in your heart.

I am trying to be the person my dogs think I am.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Victoria, I will be praying for your dad and for you. I will also put both of you (Kenneth & Victoria) on a prayer list. They'll be several people praying around the clock for both of you. Please, when you have time, keep us posted. On April 10, I will be say a rosary for you dad. Take care of yourself. Hugs to you both.
