Hello Sweet Chickens!
I got a call last night (Yes Christmas night) that my 79 year old Mama had broken her leg. She was walking to her wheel chair when she turned and her femur snapped. The break is four inches from her hip joint. She is in the hospital in traction at the moment. They will repair her leg via surgery and an implant of a rod, but must wait until the anti-coagulant levels in her body drop. I am leaving tomorrow to fly to SC to be with her. She will be in the hospital for at least a month, for the surgery then rehab. To complicate matters, she has a very old dog who she will no longer be able to care for, and something must be done with him.

So please Dear Chickens, please say prayers for my Mama, and me.

Margaret

Oh Margaret! Wow. So much going on there! My prayers will be with you and your mom. Your poor Momma! I agree with Audrey above there who said that Pierre must have known his mom couldn't care for him anymore. Sending you a big virtual

Sounds like dear sweet Pierre knew his Mama could no longer care for him so he did what all brave and faithful companions do, go on ahead and wait for her time top join him in heaven. I'll be praying for your Mama's recovery and for you and the rest of your family.

I will be praying for your mother's recovery and healing. I am so sorry about Pierre, but his passing sounds peaceful and I've always believed that animals' souls go on to Heaven.

Praying that today is a better day for your mom. Hope they get her levels under control and that she is a bit stronger each day.
Sorry to hear about Pierre, but glad that he is peaceful now, and romping around in doggie heaven.
Continued thoughts and prayers are being sent your way.
Hugs,

Happy to hear your Mom went through surgery well. I'll be keeping her in my prayers. Sorry about Pierre. I'll keep him in my prayers, also.

Dear Sweet Chickens!
Thank you so much for all your prayers and well wishes. Mama's surgery went okay, the Doctor was able to pull the bones together with a rod and cable system. But, she has been plagued with uncontrollable blood pressure and glucose levels since having the surgery. They have given her two units of blood, and insulin. I hope tomorrow will bring more normal levels in both. She remains incredibly weak, and although they try and have her stand, she is struggling. This will a long, and arduous recovery for her. We have found a wonderful Rehab for her and she will be going there on Monday to continue her recovery. Unfortunately it does look like her driving days are over, as is living alone.

And her Sweet Little Pierre decided today to take the decision to say goodbye into his own wee little white paws. he passed away on his own this morning. He will be missed.

Please keep us in your thoughts!
Margaret

Goodness! Saying a prayer for your Mom and the dear old doggy companion and for you too. Hope Mom's surgery went well. I've been doing a lot of research on rescue groups here lately, perhaps you can find on that will foster your Mom's dog. If it's a pure bred, I'd do an internet search with "breed name rescue". If it's a 1/2 & 1/2 you might try either breed and see if they'd take a mix breed. A lot of the rescues will take older pets so don't give up hope and it might make your Mom's recovery a bit easier if she knows the dog is cared for. Just a thought.

Iam sending healing love and light to your mother and I know all will be well. I am also sending hugs and prayers to you and your family because I know that having a dear one in the hospital is hard on those who love them. I am a bit snowed in but if you need me I can be reached by phone for someone to talk too...
