Things have been very stressful and difficult for my family since my father passed away in September. My mother had been in the hospital since the day after my father's funeral with a severely broken ankle and a multitude of health problems. She was brought home against my wishes by my siblings. Now none of them are able to take care of her and I am trying to figure out what to do about it. On top of that my sister fell off her deck at home this morning & has broken her hip. She is going to have surgery tomorrow (she has MS and it is complicating things) and is in for a long recovery rehab herself.

We are having trouble with my 8 year old son's school and are putting our house on the market to move to a better school district. I would very much like prayers for both of them. My stress level reached it's limit long ago and the problems keep coming. If anyone has time, prayers would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,
Dawn in IL

I wanted to thank all of you again for your prayers and support. Sadly, my mom passed away late Sunday night. In two months time, I have lost both my parents.

It has been a very difficult and stressful autumn for us. My siblings and I are in shock and can't believe our parents are both gone. Tomorrow is our mom's funeral. I am bracing myself now for it.

My sister's hip healed quickly and she is able to get around with a walker or wheelchair. The prosthesis they put in for the ball & socket has straightened out her left leg and she is actually walking better now. Her MS still makes her a bit wobbly, but with the walker she is able to zip around faster than she has in years.

Again, thank you for your prayers. I am praying everyone will have a very joyful Christmas and that 2012 will be better for us all.

Thank you all so very much. I am feeling pretty down tonight as I try to prepare myself for my mother's funeral tomorrow. I didn't get time to deal with the loss of my father and I think it is really going to break my heart when were go to the cemetery. I just can't believe they are both going to be there forever.

Thank you for your advice. I have an appointment to see my attorney to help handle all of the trust & estate stuff. I feel very exhausted thinking about it. My siblings have been a bit pushy already and I've asked them to back off about it for now.

I pray we can all have a Merry Christmas and a happier 2012.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My family has been through something similar this year. My grandparents both passed away four months apart...barely time to adjust to the first crisis before the second began. Like Jonni says, a probate attorney can help so much with the paperwork, leaving you free to grieve and take care of your parents' personal things. I'm glad your sister is doing so well...coincidentally, my sister also has MS. Best wishes and sincere sympathy to you and your family.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Things like this just happen so sudden, it's hard to wrap your head around it. You have my sincere sympathy and a long distance hug. I'm glad that you have your family and that your sister is on the mend. Try to take things one bit at a time, I know that there is so much to do, but you need to take care of yourself as well.

Hugs

Dawn, I'm sending you a hug. I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing and rejoice with you that your sister is doing better. Jonni is right, the future will ask a lot of you, one day at a time is good right now. One foot in front of the other, one breath in, one breath out...Know the sisters love you have on this site and the prayers that are going up for you.

That's all you can do, Dawn. The future will ask a lot of you, but please remember to take care of yourself. I work for a probate attorney and my advice is to simply give it over to an attorney you trust and let them handle everything. It's so much easier, especially with titling and things passing from husband to wife, and now them both gone.

Thank you Julie and Jonni. Your understanding and kind words brought tears to my eyes. I will have a lot to deal with in the future regarding my parents estate.

I am just dealing with one day at a time right now. The thought of the rest of it is to overwhelming.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to read this. You must be really just...numb. I'm so sorry that you've lost both parents in such a short time--your mother is at rest, it sounds, after a few months of terrible illness.

I am happy for your sister's mobility, MS is such a struggle, and combined with the hip issue, well, it's amazing, truly. I wish you luck with your home sale, and am so glad that you have the wonderful support of your husband and children.

Thank you all again for the prayers, encouragement and support. It has helped me get through this very stressful time.

My sister was moved to rehab yesterday. She said that the pain isn't too bad now and they will probably release her in 4-6 days. Walking is difficult, but she is able to do it with two helpers & a walker.

Thank you all again!

Thank you again for all of your kind words and prayers. I saw my sister this afternoon. They can't put a cast on her. They had her up & walking with a walker & two spotters. She is in a lot of pain and has a UTI that is causing a fever, but the hospital says they are discharging her in a day or two! I think she is a bit concerned about that, as she well should be.

I have a realtor coming tomorrow to do a market analysis on my house and hopefully we will have it up for sale by the end of the week.

The stress has been crushing us all and I am praying like crazy that it is finally all over with. My husband and sons have been very supportive and I think I would have fallen into a million pieces now if it wasn't for them and my Windy Pines cousin. The farmgirl prayers and support has really boosted my spirits too.

Thank you & God bless all of you!

Thank you for all of your prayers. My sister's surgery went very well yesterday. Due to brittle bones they had to put a prosthesis in her hip. They plan to get her up and walking today! The doctor said they are going to put a brace on her leg to help straighten it out. Her MS had caused her to walk on tilt and hopefully this will help her balance better.

All of your kinds words and encouragement have helped me so much. Thank you again to all of you wonderful farmgirls!
