Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 07:48:28 AM I've really done it now. I am the sole support for the family and I just got suspended pending a decision on termination. I have this weeks paycheck and will be getting paid for two days on the next paycheck. I am not allowed to contact anyone at work other than the person determining the termination. I am so beside myself as to what to do. I have two sons still in school and now we are facing not being able to pay the rent or anything. My DH wants me to fall on my knees and beg for my job back which I didn't do anything wrong to have this happen. I took a break, set my phone alarm for 15 minutes and reclined on a chair with a footstool. My supervisor says because I ignored her opening the door, to which I had my back turned, I must have been sleeping. They are trying to fire me for sleeping on the job but I had just been sitting there talking to another employee a few minutes before.
Please pray that I follow the right path and can do the right thing for my family.
If this happens I will loose my medical immediately and one of my son's is special needs and we just found a great shrink and counselor to work with him that will not take state medical for kids, so he will loose his new doctor and the progress he has made.
I know God will help me but I need help seeing his way.
God bless,
Judy

Posted - Oct 25 2011 : 12:33:24 PM Well it did not turn out in my favor. The company terminated me without even talking to the other person I was talking to. I don't know if they are going to fight the unemployment or not but I have already been applying for other jobs. DH is a bit un-hinged about this, more than I am. I keep thinking that I didn't do anything wrong and this hapened, it must have happened for a reason God knows about because I am still unaware.
Thanks for all the prayers to get us thru this.
God bless,
Judy

Posted - Oct 20 2011 : 1:16:43 PM Judy- Hoping that everything works its way out for you. I completely understand your discomfort in starting the job hunt process- its never a fun thing to have to do. Praying that the manager that you met with and gave your statement to will see the light. Blessings,

Posted - Oct 19 2011 : 11:21:26 AM I am so horrible about being patient. I still have not heard and am just making plans to get a new job. Checking out my good clothes and working on my resume. I hate interviewing, it really makes me sick, I get too nervous.
Thanks for all the prayers and kind words, I really appreciate knowing that others are pulling for me to get thru this. Sometimes I feel really alone.
God bless,
Judy

Posted - Oct 14 2011 : 08:42:35 AM Thank you all for your continued support. While suspended I am not allowed to contact any employes during the day and I do not have most of their home numbers. I just this morning met with the Division manager and gave my statement. I did say that I was to blame for putting myself in a position that could be miscontrued and I stated that I really do want my job back and that I hold no ill will towards the supervisor that started this. I also did stand by the fact that I was not sleeping and that most floors (16 of them) all have chairs or couches in their bathrooms for use by the women in the building. I hope and pray that this manager has a fair mind and will keep me.
God bless,
Judy

Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 7:04:26 PM I've been tired at work before due to medication I take, and they've gotten after me because I "appeared" to be sleeping. But it was on my break and I wasn't endangering anyone, and as long as you're not endangering anyone, they shouldn't have a case against you. What you do on your break is your business. Haven't they heard about the air traffic controllers now being allowed to sleep? I'll say a prayer that you don't get terminated, that's just dumb. Cindy

Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 4:38:57 PM That is just wrong. I would stand up for myself, but I wouldn't beg. I agree that what you do on your break is your business as long as you are not breaking the law. Taking a little rest is no reason to be fired.

Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 09:44:58 AM Judy, if you have another employee to back your story you were just talking to them and NOT sleeping, you need to contact that person for help, also, as far as I know, what you do on YOUR break, is your business, and as long as you were not late going back towork or hindering anyone else...

Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 08:12:56 AM Judy, my heart goes out to you and your family. How easy it is anymore to face uncertainty. I am praying for you and your family, that God keeps you safe and that your employer comes to her senses and allow you back to work.

Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 08:07:12 AM My daughter has a lot of the same trouble at work. She has had to beg to keep her job. It looks like what they are trying to do is fire you for the appearance of wrongdoing. My DD hates having to eat crow daily but they need the money and she needs the almost non-existant medical ins. so she does it. Praying for God to open doors that need to be opened and close those that need to be closed and for protection for your and yours. But you are not alone employers are in the driver's seat in this economy and they know it.
