Posted - Oct 14 2011 : 1:44:13 PM Thank you Cheryl, Michele and everyone for your prayers and kind words. My mother is still not doing well. She is off the ventilator, but has had many complications since then. Since she has osteoporosis, her ankle hasn't healed enough for a regular cast. She had a severe skin reaction on her other leg to the stocking they put on to prevent blood clots. Also, her congestive heart failure is causing her to retain a lot of water & her blood pressure keeps dropping. As you can see, she just isn't progressing.
I still haven't had time to fully grieve over the loss of my father. It has been a very difficult time for myself & my family. The kind words, prayers and thoughts from so many though have really helped us along.
Thank you, Dawn in IL |

Posted - Sep 30 2011 : 05:49:00 AM Dawn, I just saw this post. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My prayers are out to you at this difficult time. I lost my DD suddenly over 7 years ago and am still struggling with my DM. She just hasn't ever recovered from the loss and has become somewhat like a small child. Losing your Dad is like having the foundation crumble.

Posted - Sep 29 2011 : 3:43:00 PM Thank you Michele you are always such a wonderful & caring best friend/cousin. The stress is really getting to me. My mother has always be difficult to deal with and quite selfish. She is even worse now. I am trying to take a walk each day just to clear my head and enjoy our wet autumn.

Posted - Sep 26 2011 : 5:12:45 PM Thank you all so very much for your prayers and kind words. They are most welcome and they bring tears to my eyes.
My mom had surgery on her ankle today. She had collapsed when dad died last Monday and she broke her ankle then, but limped the whole week through until his funeral on Friday. Saturday we rushed her to the ER to find out she broke 3 separate bones in her ankle and the surgery was to put a plate and screws in it. Mom came through the surgery just fine and we are all praying for a speedy recovery.
It has been difficult dealing with the loss of my dad and my mother's broken ankle. I can't seem to catch my breath. I really hope things can slow down at last so I can deal with the loss of my dear father.

Posted - Sep 23 2011 : 11:38:46 AM Oh Dawn, I'm wrapping warm farmgirls arms around you and hugging you all the way from Idaho. It's never ever a good time to lose a parent. Grieving is a transition and is normal and natural as our minds adjust to our loss. You are loved by so many of your sisters here and I'm sure we are all sending as much love and compassion as one can over a distance. Wishing you peace of heart and mind and comfort for your grieving spirit.
Love and hugs
