Posted - Nov 29 2010 : 01:15:13 AM December is always a difficult month. My oldest brother's last Christmas was a bitter sweet one. It was the last time he had a meal after months of not being able to eat anything solid. He was in the hosp. for months, could come home Christmas day, but had to go to the hospital again in the evening but at least he was able to eat some of his favorite thigs...meat :) That was also the last time I saw him face to face, we talked on the phone every day, but because he was getting sicker and sicker every time, the talks got shorter and shorter...sometimes just an "I love you, never forget I do". (makes me cry even thinking about it)
And I also miss my other brother SO very much. We "talk" through skype, email back and forth some days but still...want to be with him. Silly I know.
I will be alone this Christmas again, and it just gets to me some days. So if you don't mind could you say a little prayer for me? So I might bfeel not too bad. Thanks gals.
Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

Posted - Dec 07 2010 : 2:21:09 PM Marian...I hold you in my thoughts and prayers. I so relate to your bittersweet story of your brother. Last year my husband was so ill but wanted to share it with our children and grand babies. Sadly it was his last one. This year I too will be alone as the children are going to their inlaws side of the family. Please know I will be thinking of you and praying peace will fill your heart. Fill your mind with blessings and special memories of the past. Let's make a pact with eachother...to do something new just for ourselves for Christmas ! I started by getting a new tree and decorating it just for me. A white tree with pink and silver decorations. Im also going to fix something different from Christmas past for my special dinner. I am thinking of also asking another widowed women over as I did for Thanksgiving.
Hugs to you from an ole Kansas farmgirl.... Kristy

Posted - Nov 29 2010 : 3:55:30 PM Marian, I see you on the chat room pages often and you were kind enough to welcome me when I joined a few weeks ago. You mentioned knowing Medical Lake and the AFB here. Christmas can be the most joyous and painful time. Although, this year may be bleak for you, you will have wonderful times in the future. I hope you hear from your family often during the season, especially your brother. If you would like a long distance email pal, shoot me a note.
Meanwhile, I will pray that God reminds you of the strength you know you have and that you find a special reason to celebrate. I send you love and good wishes, it is obvious you are a kind and decent person by what you share on these pages! Marianne |

Posted - Nov 29 2010 : 05:06:54 AM Marian, I will also be thinking of you. You are such a strong person but at times like these it has to get to you more than ever. I still have my brother and sister but they are in Colorado and we don't see each other but every few years. I haven't seen my brother though in 6 years now. We do talk on the phone and email, but that is not the same at all. So you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hate that family has to be so far apart.
Hugs, Kris
