Posted - Nov 17 2010 : 10:45:45 PM Hello Sisters ! I am brand new here I'm your sister #2339. I lost my husband to Mesothelioma July 14th,2010. I am trying to find my new place in this world and discover what my purpose is now that our kids are grown and my husband is gone. I am struggling to figure it all out.
I live on a farm in Kansas and was born and raised on a big ranch on the plains. I can't imagine leaving here, but don't know how I will keep up with it all since I am alone. Don't want to make a move unless it is just too much. The kids are worried but they have families of their own. They say they will be here to help...but.. havent seen it yet !
I ask for your prayers that I will be lead to understand just why I am here and for strength to carry on.
Thank you and blessings and hugs to you all.. Kristy The Eggfarmgirl |

Posted - Dec 12 2010 : 4:13:51 PM Dear Beth, Yes ,I am in counseling with Hospice. They have been wonderful. I honestly think I would have lost my mind without them. Before husband passed they were wonderful to me and our family. One of their volunteers happens to be a good friend and my case manager (Disability). She has also been so supportive and faithful to check in on me regularly. She is also the one that has encouraged me to journal and do a gratitude check in with her each day. Telling her at least 3 things I am grateful for that day. It has helped me so very much.
I have not been able to attend the group gatherings as I no longer drive. And to be honest... I have not wanted to go to groups where it is widows and widowers. I know.. sounds weird. But, I went to one church function that was a mixed group and it seemed to be a see who you could hook up with situation ! Ugg !! I had the best.. I don't want the rest !!
Thank you all so much for being here for me and for eachother! God has blessed me by finding each of you here at MJF!!
Hugs...

Kristy is there a local hospice near you? I ask because the one near me has a wonderful widow/widowers group that meets once a week. And yes its hard the first two years after a spouse has died. I say frist two years because thats what we were told at the support group and it prepared me. Reach out and ask for specific help from the kids and be blunt and tell them what you need and when you need it. And tell them you need it NOW. Been there done that.
I remember being so mad because everyone had their family and normal lives and had no idea what I was going thru. Then I spoke up and reminded them that unlike me they had someone daily who loved them and was there to talk to etc. Now I call shut in friends, widow/widower, caregiver friends and ask how they are doing weekly and even more often, just because I remember how sad and lonely I felt after Ron died.
Hope those who read you comments, take the time to call their parents, grandparents etc who are alone now and ask how they are doing and then ask what can they do to help, and mean it.

Posted - Dec 06 2010 : 11:49:47 AM It reminds me of Celtic art. Woven and interwoven. It took me a while to clean out the bedroom but I did so as well as rearranged rooms and gave away stuff to people I knew would use it and such like. Took quite a while but I am glad to see you taking joy in creating bless you.

Posted - Dec 02 2010 : 8:15:53 PM Here is the piece I did in a journal. I'm working with a new scanner/printer and can't get the whole thing in the scan. But at least you get some idea. This one is of my late husbands hand. It has become a treasure to me. It is created using Zentangle(registered trade mark. More info on www.zentangle.com ) I have also done my hand and the hands of our children and grands.I post my work to Flickr and this one went to #3 in the world for several weeks. I also trade and do commissioned workes in this style and others. This one brings my much joy.

Posted - Dec 02 2010 : 04:51:09 AM Kristy, You are making my heart sing with joy and praise! Thanking the Lord for you, and the strides you are making. Can you share some of your art with us? I'd love to see your creations, and I'm sure our other sisters would too! Downloading is so easy now, thanks to our wonderful friends at MJF!
Thrilled about what you have done to your bedroom and the teddy bear! You know I did the same thing after my husband left me, but had forgotten all about it - it did wonders for me! Even got a teddy bear! I still have him and he is a special friend, he's a little worn, but still too cute! Many hugs sweet sista! Ruth

Posted - Dec 01 2010 : 1:43:27 PM Thank you Sistas ! Yes my muse is back...my muse is back ! Oh how I have missed you. Peace is found at the end of a pencil, pen, brush and paper. ahhhh...! Oh and the cleaning bug hit hard here the last 3 days. Yeah, the cobwebs were about to cover a window and the dust..well lets just say it really needed it. I am also working on our bedroom. Since my husbands death I hate going to bed. So, decided to turn it into a girlie girl room with lots of pink shades and ivory accents. Moving and relocating a few pieces of furniture, bought some new bedding and we will see what happens then . Even got myself a big teddy bear to cuddle with! Yes...inside this 53 year old hen is a chick just dying to get out ! lol !! or wait...maybe I am reverting to my childhood ? yikes !!
Off to do somethin...forgot what.. but off for now ! Hugs...Kristy

Posted - Nov 30 2010 : 8:19:23 PM Hello my sisters ! Yes...God is good. I have been so blessed this week. By friends coming over to spend the day with me. Through emails from several of you and your messages here. Counting my blessings not my fears. He will show me a new way of walking the rest of this journey called life, without my loving husband physically at my side. I know he walks with our Lord and they are both with me every step I take and every breath I breathe. I stand on "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me " Phil.4:13. It does not say some things it says... ALL !! I had a bit of a breakthrough this weekend. I am an artist and I have not been able to do any artwork since my husbands passing in July. He was my biggest cheerleader and the last year together we were together 24/7. Even through his many hospital stays I would take some of my artsupplies with me and do them from my cot in his room. He would always tell me... OH Honey...that's my new favorite ! Lol ! God love him. Anyway, this past weekend I just felt the need to do some creating. My muse has returned and it felt Soooooooo... good ! Smiling tonight as I write this post.
Thank you all for your prayers, messages and emails!!You Rock..as my 3 year old granddaughter says !! lol !! God bless... Hugs.. Kristy

Posted - Nov 28 2010 : 8:34:10 PM Hello Sisters ! Please forgive me for not posting this earlier. I ended up having a blessed Thanksgiving ! I did have the younger single woman over for the day. I cooked the traditional Thanksgiving meal for us. Actually fixed way to much, but have leftovers for the freezer and a care package for her. It was great to keep busy and not find myself wallowing my my pain of missing my husband. My son and DIL surprised us and came walking in the door saying... Momma Im home ! Yeah ! We had a wonderful visit and somehow we ate again before they had to head home. I finally crawled in bed about 11 after giving much thanks to God for His blessings and getting me through what I thought was going to be a terrible day ! Thank you all for your emails and your concern. I am so blessed by each of you and so thankful for Mary Jane and MJF Connection. I have already been accepted in a chapter here in Kansas and look forward to getting involved and getting to know more of you !!! Hugs and gratitude.. Kristy
