My 4 year old has been so sick. He seems to have almost constant stomach pain. He vomits all the time with diarrhea. We have been giving him Zofran to ease the nausea. The pediatrician thinks its viral gastroenteritis. He caught a tummy bug a month ago and hasnt been the same since. We see the gastroenterologist on tuesday.

Nigel has autism and the digestive issues have been there for a while. He has such a limited diet anyway. He is down to 34 pounds from 36. He is a tiny guy and watching him feel like this breaks my heart.

Please send prayers of healing for him. If anyone has any suggestions, I welcome them.

Thanks everyone. The nw meds seem to be helping and he isn't talking about his tummy hurting as much. He is even eating again!

I'm so sorry for you and your son...I will be praying for you and Nigel. There's nothing worse than not being able to "make it all better" for your babies.

Ruth, milkshakes are so iffy. We offer him pediasure thats lactose free and its a 50/50 deal, if he'll drink it. Frosty from Wendy's is a maybe...anywhere else...not so much. Maybe just a few sips. I give him acidophilus tablets since he wont touch yogurt with a 10 foot pole. I cant hide it in anything.

Robin, Big hugs to you, my heart just aches for you as you
travel this road with Nigel. Cobb (our grandson) has the same
tastes as Nigel, dry and crunchy.
Praying for some answers and healing!
Does Nigel like milkshakes?
Hugs and prayers,
Ruth

He doesnt have celiac. We limit his gluten because while I dont have celiac either I feel better when I dont eat much in the bread department. Trying the gfcf diet may be next. Its really tough when they only like dry crunchy foods. So many days I just cry when I dont know what else to try to feed him.

The gastroenterologist agrees about the viral gastroenteritis. He has given us some new meds to try for a while. Tummy issues run in my family and it seems poor Nigel has them. The Dr thinks they will get better in a few weeks. Sort of like the bug he caught is giving him more misery than it would other people. I know kids with autism can have immune system issues and digestive issues.

He was feeling better today. Thanks everyone for your prayers, I believe they are helping!

Hi Robin, I have been praying, praying for little Nigel! Thinking about him all day today.
How did his appointment go? Do they have any answers at this time?
Keeping you, Nigel and DH in my prayers!

Robin, my granddaughter had that when she was just 5. She was put in the hospital for about 4 days. She could not keep anything down at all. It was so sad. She also had mono. I know. It was so strange. She had never been to school before and was in kindergarten and got sick all the time. But this was not too long after school started.

I will be praying for the little guy. I hope they get him all better. I gave Chloe ginger tea with honey. that's about the only thing she could keep in her little tummy then.

Amen to Siobhan's prayer!

Kris

Heavenly Father, I ask You today to bring healing and peace into little Nigel's body. Lord, only You know what is going on in his body and this sickness is not according to Your will or plan for his life. We gather together with Robin (for Your Word says that where two or more are gathered together in Your name, You are there with them) and ask that Your will and healing would be done in his life and that whatever it is that is ravaging his poor little body right now would go now and go for good! In the powerful name of Jesus we pray this today. AMEN!

Oh, Robin... Your post just opened a floodgate of memories. My son had something very similar when he was an infant and it took months before it went away. Because it was viral, they really couldn't give him anythng for it - it had to "run its course," they kept telling us. We went through a case of diapers every two days. I well remember all those sleepless nights, projectile vomiting, diarrhea up over the shoulders, the horrible smell and mess, the numerous trips to the ER and a lot of tears and prayers begging God for my baby to be healed. I didn't realize how thin and small he actually was until we went through photographs years later, and seeing them still make me cry to this day. I honestly do not remember when it stopped, or how. I do remember going through three pediatricians before finally deciding to call Children's Hospital for a referral. Our new doctor was (is) fantastic, but I really don't think he did anything special - the illness had probably run its course by that time, as many said it eventually would. I will pray for Nigel and for you - I really, really do understand. Please keep us posted. Hugs - Nini
