Hi everyone - My cousin was in a horrific motorcycle accident on Saturday and remains in the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle failed to yield at the intersection and my cousin t-boned him with his motorcycle. I do not yet have the specifics of his injuries or a prognosis, but if you would please say prayers for his full recovery, I would be so, so grateful. Last year at this same time we also lost his nephew (another cousin of mine, and one of my dearest friends in the whole world) to cancer at the young age of 32. It was completely unexpected and very quick (God is merciful), but has been terribly difficult on the whole family. We really need a miracle for this cousin who now lies in the hospital fighting for his life. He is only 48 and still has a whole life of living to do. Thank you so much for being there to turn to for prayer in times like this. You are all such blessings. - Nini

He's home now, and it's going to be a long haul to health, but thankfully he is going to be all right. Thank you for all your prayers. His family drama is waaaay more than I can even fathom - it's absolutely heartbreaking and horrifying to me; so continued prayers for that whole situation are appreciated. But again, thank you so much for the prayers you have already sent. I know God heard them, and I know they availed much! Hugs - Nini

Thank you, Cherime. I know he will be okay, and so will his ex, who is someone very special to me; it's just going to be a long road ahead. The boys are great kids - they were just so stressed out and got through it as best as they could. I'm so proud of them. As for the rest of the family - I can't help thinking how family should build each other up, not tear each other apart and cast each other out. It's horrible to think anyone can behave this way, especially in such a time of crisis as this. But we know that what seems impossible is not at all impossible with God! :) All things are possible with Him! That's what I am praying for, too - healing all around. :)

I really appreciate everyone's prayers and kind words. You all are the best! Thank you!!! Hugs, Nini

Thank you, Annika! Yes, they do have him heavily sedated right now. I'm sorry I forgot to mention that. I have a feeling he'll be sedated for a loooong while. The boys are doing much better now that their Dad is "awake" and that their Mom's through her surgeries and on the road to recovery. The poor kids - their parents were in two different hospitals in two completely different counties! Given the circumstances, I think they handled it beautifully. We're all very proud of them! Everything will be okay, I know it will. It's just going to take some time... and time, thankfully, we do have! :) Hugs, Nini

Those poor kids! Running back and forth scared out of their wits. I could just hug them both. Poor guys. I'm sorry that your poor cousin is so messed up, but relieved the he has come out of the coma and is expected to recover. Bless his heart, I hope he has good pain killers. Ouch!

Thank you for letting us know and please keep us in the loop

Thank you for your prayers, everyone - they are working, thank God. Well, here's the scoop: My cousin has been in a coma up until today. He has two broken arms, a broken leg, broken ribs, internal bleeding and his face was partially torn off. He was speaking at first after the accident then on the way to the hospital he fell into a coma. They have set the bones in his arms and leg and he has had surgery for his face. He's a mess, just a mess. But he is very grateful to be alive. It's going to take a long time of healing and rehab, but the doctors feel he will recover. The driver of the other vehicle apparently was in a rush to get to Dairy Queen before it closed and ran the stop sign. My cousin t-boned their vehicle and they kept driving to the DQ. My cousin's girlfriend was in a vehicle behind him, saw the whole thing and barely stopped in time herself to avoid running over him. The reason we couldn't get hold of anyone is that there had been a family feud (unbeknownst to us) and their immediate family, sadly, is being very stubborn and cold, not speaking to each other - ergo, they refrained from getting tangled "in the loop," so to speak, and just decided to ignore the rest of the extended family's calls and emails. How absolutely sad and infuriating. To compound the issue, my cousin's ex-wife, had been rushed to the hospital the day before (again, unbeknownst to us) after having a massive heart attack. Long story short, she herself was in critical condition. Their two boys - one in his early 20's, the other in his late teens - were rushing back and forth from hospital to hospital and really weren't in any frame of mind or able to call anyone to let us know. Those poor kids - they were dealing with this all by themselves. I could shake the rest of the family - I could just shake them.

Well...thank GOD that all is well for now. Both my cousin and his ex have a long road ahead of them, but they will be okay. I still cannot get past the ridiculously stubborn thick-headed cold-hearted ground-beef-brained behavior of my other cousins (his brothers and sister and their children). I don't want to get into the details of the feud, but it is absolutely selfish and self-serving on all counts. I am also praying for them... they need it!

Thank you again for your prayers. I really, really, really appreciate them. You all are such blessings!

Hugs - Nini

Hi girls - thank you SO much for your prayers. I really, really appreciate them! Still no update on my cousin... We are planning to visit him tomorrow night (hubby is working double shifts right now) and hope to know more then. We are certain his family is with him and there round-the-clock. I'm sure you know the routine. Can't get info from the nurses station, can't call into the room. Can't get hold of anyone via phone or email. Extended family members are all calling each other, but nobody has any information yet. I've been sick to my stomach all day and praying so hard. No news is supposed to be good news, but to me, it's stomach-knotting news. I just hope he'll be okay. Cherime, thank you especially for the scripture. I know ALL things are possible with God and that nothing is impossible with God!

Luanne, I'm just outside of Pittsburgh... WISH I could visit the Poconos! That must be such a lovely place to live!!!

Oh, Diane - thank you. I know you know where I am coming from. What I didn't share with all of you is that we lost my brother-in-law in a motorcycle accident a few years ago, so this is very, very difficult. Actually, as I just typed that, my mouth just went completely dry and my body went numb. Bikes are REALLY big around here, and REALLY a big deal with my husband's side of the family. I've been out a few times and really enjoy it, but when you see how people drive without any regard to bikers - or, maybe it's just that they have difficulty seeing them in certain instances - it's scarey as heck. Ugh...

Hugs to you all - I'll let you know as soon as I know something. - Nini
