My very best friend of 18 years just had his second son, born a month prematurely on September 14th. They are having some setbacks, and are now unsure when he will be coming home. Please include Baby Grayson in your prayers that he will be able to come home really soon. His poor mommy is having a very hard time with this! My friend works in a hospital, so he is used to the surroundings.

My own daughter was born 2 months early, so I am trying to give them guidance as best I know how, but prayers are certainly appreciated for this sweet little boy.

Dear FarmGirls,

Thank you so much for your prayers! Baby Grayson got to come home a few days ago. I was able to visit with him for the first time (at home) today. I took Mom and Dad some chicken cacciatore and Halloween sugar cookies. It was my first baby to hold in several years, but you never lose the 'touch'. He slept on me for a bit :0) He is almost back up to his birth weight of 5 pounds 5 oz. What a precious child. Better yet, Mom is probably going to quit work to be a stay at home mommy. Yay!!!

Thank you all!!!!!!!

Lifes not the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.

Just a small town country girl, farmgirl, loggergirl, trying to live her dreams. :)

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!!

My heart and prayers go out to your friends and their babe. I worked in NICU for a time and my heart bled for all those parents had to deal with.

His daddy is holding him as I type (he just told me this on FaceBook). He said he is off of the bili light and is doing better. They re-started his feeding schedule and he has been making poop. Yay! If he continues to do well, he could go home by the end of this week.

Amanda, how is the baby? I have been thinking about him. I hope he's better and able to come home soon.

Wow, she WAS big for the NICU! In my own experience, my daughter was in the NICU for 2 months. I was a first-time mommy and had no idea what to expect, with either a 'regular' baby or a NICU baby. I used that 2 months to heal my body and pump a LOT of milk, lol. It was hard, but it's just one of those things you have to take a day at a time :0(

Our youngest was in the nicu for 6 weeks. We didn't get to do the kangaroo care with her. The poor nurses were at their wits end tryin to keep her feeding tube and oxygen tube in place. She would pull them out every few hours. Even when they put her in the special shirts where the sleeves snap to the sides, they call them the 'straight jackets'. She would pull a houdini and get her arms out of the sleeves and stick them up through the neck hole to pull her tubes out! She was a nicu monster at 8lbs 6oz and 28in long! We had to take turns sittin by her bed and controlin her arms and hands.

I had a horrible time with all of it. They made me learn how to remove and place her feeding tube. My hubby was in his element there, he's an emt for the local fire dept and loves workin and bein in hospitals. As long as he's not a patient, that is!

We'll be prayin for the little angel!

Thanks, Diane, I will. It's very hard, knowing you are not in control. I spoke with 'mommy' this evening. She sounds more rested. Grayson was upset this afternoon, but settled down when mom and dad did kangaroo care (skin to skin contact).

Update: Grayson's bilirubin level is up, so he has been put under a 'bili light'. This is a special light with a blue spectrum which helps the body metabolize/break down the bilirubin.
