I would greatly appreciate any prayers for my sister. She found out about a month ago that she has thyroid cancer. She went in today for surgery to have her thyroid removed & then will have chemo.

**Update**: My sis is having a tough time. Her thyroid cancer surgery went well, but they must've damaged her vocal chords because she's unable to talk (she used to sing & play the guitar). She has to go into radiation in a couple of wks and is terrified... scared of being in isolation for 7 days, scared of vomiting up the stuff since they won't be able to give her any more since they won't have any way of knowing how much her system has already had, scared of driving herself home alone since she can't have anyone with her due to the radiation, nervous about the high qty of 50 mercure. I don't live nearby her (she lives in CA & I live in OR). I sure would appreciate continued prayers for her and any advice you ladies can give me on BTDT or how I can support her. I'm planning on going to see her next month after the isolation period is done.

My thought would be to remind your sister of Isaiah 26:3 that says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee." And 2 Timothy 1:7, that says, "For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

And also remind yourself of these verses. I'm sure that you are concerned and worried also. God is really big!

She gets 1 injection one day followed by another injection the next day, followed by drinking this radioactive drink (I think) and that's when she has to be away from *all* contact for 3-4 hrs after the procedure (& why she has to drive herself home) and then after that her husband can be in same house, but she can't be in public areas for 7 days. If she has to blow her nose, she can't throw it away; has to flush it. Has to sleep in separate qtrs, wash her clothes separately, that sort of thing. And then 10 days after that, she'll get scanned to find out if the cancer is in her lymph glands.

Jewel, I knopw she must be scared having to be by herself. I had no idea they had to do that. How long will the radiation last? I know she will be so glad to see you when the time is up.

Jewel,
I will be praying also for your sister. I have a dear friend in CA that had thyroid cancer when she was only 23. She is about 56 now and doing well. I know the doctor will take good care of hear and after the miseries of chemo will be back on her feet doing well. Just a positive attitude helps.

I just finished my last chemo last week for lymphoma and the doctor was very positive for me. My only downside is the tiredness and inability to get out and work in my garden like I want to.

My prayers for your sister.

My sis went through her surgery and they removed her thyroid & said that they think they got all the cancer!! Thank you all for your prayers. I'm not sure if she'll still need to go through the chemo once she's home from the surgery. But for now, we're all very thankful!! :-)

I'll be praying too. I pray the surgeon gets all the cancer. And that she doesn't get sick while taking the chemo.
