Posted - Apr 26 2010 : 4:56:39 PM My youngest son, his wife and their son (my grandson) who live here on the ranch. He was taking me to my Drs appt this morn, cause he had a few errands to run himself. We pulled into a gas station, and my son saw a man harrasing and grabing at two young women. He ran over there to help, the guy turned around and had a knife in his hand. My son was able to knock his feet out from under him, but as he was going down he swung the knife and caught my sons arm in two places, then sunk it in to his leg and sliced him . By this time I was over there with a board out of the back of the truck, and I swung with everything I had, connected, and knocked him out cold. The Sheriffs deputys showed up about 2 seconds later, cuffed the guy, Paramedics were called for my son, he has 22 staples in his leg, and 5 and 7 staples in his arm. He will be fine, pretty sore and mad that his good levi's were ruined, lol. The man was wanted in another town for assult with intent to kill on his ex-wife, so we are glad hes now locked up. needless to say, I missed my appt, but will reschedual tomorrow. This is not the way to start out the week or morning. Good thoughts that my son will have no lasting effects are needed, thank you

Posted - Apr 27 2010 : 6:19:38 PM The fact that he wants to remain anonymous speaks reams to his character - these days most folks want their 10 min of fame. It shows me that his heart was truly pure and his intentions only for good. You and your husband did a really good job of raising a truly good person. Embarassing or not - you tell him I said so....

Posted - Apr 27 2010 : 5:57:07 PM He is highly embarressed by all the attention, he is very much the reluctant hero, he says anyone would have done what he did. He has had fruit bouquets be delivered today fro the 2 girls, and other neighbors have showed up with pies and cakes. His son and my other Grandson and their classmates made him "Hero Awards" outa colored paper and glitter and ribbon, and brought a stack home from school today. A news station showed up, but he declinded an interveiw, and said his name was not to be aired, and the same to the newspaper. hes alittle sore and stiff yet, but he will heal 100%. Thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts, I have told him all of them.

Posted - Apr 26 2010 : 7:44:04 PM Thanks Girls, my son is our hero, and the 2 girls are ok. It turns out they were playing hooky from school, they were 16 and 17, sisters. They and their parents showed up here a couple of hours ago to thank my son, and offered to pay his medical (he has insurance, so he declined), he is the reluctant hero, very embarressed to get attention like this. I'm glad we were there when we were, to help the girls, and that my son will heal with no lasting effects. Any of you would have done the same as I did, when its your kids.
