Posted - Apr 23 2010 : 8:30:43 PM I just learned of this woman and her family this evening. I have been reading about her progress through her husband's blog.
In late February, Katy gave birth to her 3rd child in her home, with a midwife present. Four days later, she was admitted into the ER with severe pain, and soon lapsed into a coma. Katy had a severe Staph A infection as well as DIC (blood thins and clots at the same time), and organ failure. As a result, she has had partial amputations of ALL of her limbs. This family has 2 more children; a 5 year old son and a 16 year old daughter.
I do not know them personally, but this touched my heart.

Posted - Apr 24 2010 : 06:43:20 AM Looking at the blog it sounds like she is getting up a little and now eating. Wow. That's a lot to happen after having a baby. I pray she gets through this.
