Posted - Apr 14 2010 : 12:22:21 PM All I know is have faith doctors are not always right. Then we have to find comfort with Gods will and understand he knows best always. We should never ask why but why not. Make sure you let your son know everything you feel past and present. It will be good for the both of you and others as well. Love and prayers Lilly

Posted - Apr 06 2010 : 6:03:28 PM Yvonne, my heart and my prayers go out to you and your son. May you both enjoy and cherish every single moment of the time you have left together. Say all things that are in your heart for him and he for you. Believe me they will be cherished memories and you will have the peace and good feeling of knowing you said all the things you want each other to know.God Bless you both. This is my true belief, I do not believe God causes these awful things to happen. But, I know for a fact that he is there to help you through the bad times and help you to really want to live your life again even more fully than before. It does more to honor your loved one than anything else you can do.
Hugs, Mary Jane

Posted - Apr 06 2010 : 11:56:11 AM Thanks, everyone, for your good thoughts and prayers. Marilyn told me she'd posted this here. Being relatively new to this forum, I hadn't discovered this thread yet. Okay, so here's the story. My eldest son, Jim, age 34, apparently was exposed to chemicals in the last 10 yrs. Might have been when his ex-wife kept curing soap (lye) in the apartment, or his time working at a photo developing co. in poorly ventilated rooms, or his plumbing job. It really doesn't matter. What matters is it damaged areas in his brain--there are dead areas, that are no longer getting blood flow to them. The doctors have given him just months to live. Devastating news. Parents should not outlive their children. At this time, he gets tired a lot, has migraines, and stress makes his subject to what the doctor calls "sentinal" strokes. I guess pre-cursers of the Big One. So..he's trying to avoid stress and enjoy the time he has left, however long that may be. Last week we treated him to skydiving and oh wow! He loved it! That was the happiest we'd seen him in a long time. He said being up there, looking down on the tiny world, put everything perspective and he could feel his troubles fall away. We're just going to take one day at a time, and be grateful for each day we get. I've been doing a lot of quilting, now that the shock and nausea has just about left me. It's good to have some place to put my thoughts besides on Jim. Wish the rain would stop so I could have some gardening-therapy. Thanks again for the prayers. Keep them coming. Tough times ahead--but we are all trying to be strong for each other and hold on to our faith.
