and this community in your prayers. There was a terrible tragedy in a Western Washington community today - four police officers were ambushed in a coffee shop while catching up on their paperwork. A man shot them all at point blank range - three policemen and one police woman. All were killed - and leave a total of 9 children behind. Here is a link to the story

This comes on the heels of another officer killing on Halloween night in Seattle. Please remember these grief stricken families and the community in your prayers.

I have to be in Lakewood on Tuesday for a work training believe it or not. It was set up long before this happened. I guess I'll just try to leave as early as I can and hopefully already be there when the processional starts. I just keep thinking about those poor families - too many of them in the NW lately.

Yes. And those "followers" are going to jail. Hopefully for a long time. And..... if you live around the Puget Sound... avoid Tacoma on Tuesday. THey will be closing I-5 and 512 for the processional which is up to over 1000 vehicles starting at McChord AFB. I am still struggling with the decision to be in another one. It would be the 3rd in the last few months. I am not sure I have that many tears left.

Do what you love, love what you do.

I do wonder what is in his head - after listening to the news the last few days, it sounds like he had some "followers" who helped him after the crime. The way the news described it it almost sounded like the group that followed Charles Manson. I wonder what these people have that make them so violent, yet so magnetic to people looking for "something"

Do you ever wonder what makes a man like that...the one killed after he executed those 4 policemen? What would drive him to that?

So glad that killer is off the streets. Now everyone can focus on the healing.

There is an update on this tragedy - last night a lone Seattle police officer investigating a stolen car parked along a Seattle street was approached by the suspect in this case. He was told to stop and raise his hands and continued to reach for a weapon (which turned out to belong to one of the slain police officers), he did not comply and continued to approach the police officer, who then shot him dead. The killer had a severe gut wound that one of the slain officers got off before they died. Imagine how that lone Seattle PD officer must have felt with a person approaching him who had just shot and killed 4 police officers. This doesn't make this tragedy any better, but at least this killer is not on the streets endangering other cops or citizens any more. Good job Seattle PD.

So much senseless violence--praying for an end to this kind of tragedy. why does it always have to be our best and brightest whose lives are taken?

My heart and prayers go out to the families and friends of the slain officers. How completely awful for this to happen. I'm deeply saddened by it.

Completely devastating for our area. People are beside themselves with anger and sadness. Many friends of mine who worked with them, trained with them, etc. So rough on so many levels.

Do what you love, love what you do.
