Posted - Nov 13 2009 : 8:55:15 PM Jessie, I would not want to upset you with this discussion. Really. I just teach this class about how important certain nutrients are for the brain. And EFAs are for all ages. I have thought about this through the day and it dawned on me that cardiologists prescribe Omega 3 to their patients now. Maybe your dr. could prescribe some for you that would be covered by insurance.
If not would you send me your address by email? I truly do understand about times being tight.

Posted - Nov 13 2009 : 10:20:37 AM OK, I have come to enough to ABSOLUTELY beg you to read this link. http://search.lef.org/cgi-src-bin/MsmGo.exe?grab_id=0&page_id=2321&query=omega3%20dha%20pregnancy&hiword=OMEGA3S%20PREGNANCIES%20PREGNANCYA%20PREGNANT%20dha%20omega3%20pregnancy%20
I hope the link come through if not copy and paste it. You want to be informed please read it. I will not harp about it anymore. I will put blinders on and not read this thread. But you being short of this can make your depression worse. And the article states how important the nutrient is for baby in the third trimester. Isn't that where you are at? If so little guy will be taking all he can get from you.
I can try to help you find and affordable form. At a HFS you can find Nordic Natural Omega 3 and it has not taste to it. You might check on that.

Posted - Nov 13 2009 : 10:05:42 AM Short lesson...DHA is a component of Omega 3 it is VITAL to developing brains. It is thought that this is why so many children have ADD/ADHD. One source of it is cod liver oil. If you can get it no other way take it in this form. This is a nutrient that will be robbed from moms body to get it to the baby brain. Omega 3 and DHA do not replenish well on their own. So baby #1 gets some of moms while developing and then mom does not get her replenished well and baby #2 comes along and they take out of moms storage and then Mom is really short. Each new developing brain takes from mom. It is thought that these moms that drown/kill their children are just so short in this vital brain food that they are mentally ill. they all say they hear voices, most all have many children. People will not want to believe this as we really turn against these women as evil people but this can be the case. There is a reason hefty doses of this nutrient have been added to all prenatal vitamins and it is now added to formula. This helps baby but not you.
Omega 3 and DHA will do nothing but help you and your baby. Paxil??? OMG, hold me down, your insurance will pay for Paxil. (I just fainted on the floor!)

Posted - Nov 13 2009 : 09:05:45 AM LaVonna, I do have a history of depression long before I began having children. I have heard of the Omega-3 and many people have recommended it, but from what I have heard it is expensive, and unfortunately, health insurance doesn't pay for it, so it is something that would have to wait until finances allow. :) Though, we are getting back on our feet--PRAISE GOD!! One of my husband's friends introduced us to it, but the bottles were crazy expensive. Do you know of a source to get them? :D hugs all

Posted - Nov 12 2009 : 10:15:46 PM Jessie, I have to ask if you are taking omega 3 and/or DHA? Did you have depression before pregnancy? I have a long lesson on pregnancy and DHA but do not want to teach it at this moment if you are taking the product. LaVonna

Posted - Nov 12 2009 : 2:56:18 PM Jessie, my daughters Dr told her that it would be okay for her to continue her Paxil also. I think she did continue for a while. Her baby was born yesterday and so far we have not seen anything wrong. It is a tough decision. Hugs Gena

Posted - Nov 11 2009 : 06:56:20 AM Jessie, be careful what you take during your pregnacy. A doctor obviously prescribed this for you, but still. I do not trust doctors too much. What is it for anyway? I see commercials on tv about all these drugs but I turn the channel. Can't stand seeing them all.

Posted - Nov 10 2009 : 4:32:46 PM I never used it, but I have heard there is a class action lawsuit regarding babies being born with problems they believe were caused by paxil.
