I've been having terrible problems with my whole digestive system. Finally my doctor is sending me to a specialist who is going to be running a bunch of tests on me. I'm going in on the 11th and they are going to do some kind of scope inserted in to my stomach and maybe take a biopsy, since my grandma and great aunt died of stomach cancer.

I'm a big baby and am pretty scared...so please some good thoughts and fingers crossed that it is just an ulcer or something
Im tired of being sick all the time

Hey Annika-
you are so frustrated right now I know it because I have been there. Hang in there and not give up. It took 5 years to find out that I have lupus followed by igg subclass deficiency and arthritis. Just within the last month I found out I have Celiac disease. I actually helped my Dr. figure this out. I did an elimination diet of my own and I singled it down to carbs and meats. Then my Dr. determined between the two. Also he got me hooked on a probiotic called Align. Hope this helps a little bit. If you ever need an ear you got it with me. I have you in my prayers!

Your problem could be so many things, like so many others here, I to, have had tummy troubles, hows your diet now? Did you try some of those yogurts that kinda settle the tummy, they worked great for me!
Will be thinking of you, please keep us informed!

Thanks Robin, yeah, I'm avoiding anything that might upset things more. Just toast, bananas, and oatmeal really plus various teas and diet ginger ale, which sometimes helps...thankfully my doctors appointment is this Wednesday.

Thank you for thinking of me, I'm having a rough time tonight being ill.

Are you eating mild foods while you wait for the tests? I ate a lot of oatmeal and grits cereal...I still do sometimes. Tummy troubles arent easy.

Annika, I do hope you hear something soon. I am a big baby, too, when it comes to things like this. The not knowing drives me crazy. So I hope all is well and it's not anything serious.

Hugs, Kris

Annika, I am so glad you're seeing a Dr. This will give you answers and then Lord-willing, the healing process can begin.

I had terrible digestive problems for years, still do when I don't pay attention to what I eat. Have you done any research into leaky-gut or how digestion works? I did and found out about allergies to wheat and gluten, and the gluten is in soooo many food products, salad dressings even. Nuts don't digest well, or raw veggies, many times because the digestive tract has been damaged from years of eating foods that people are intollerant to and don't realize till a Dr. visit. I know you need to follow the advice of your doctor, but I encourage you to look into digestive issues, what symptoms you're experiencing will most likely have a cause and that's the key to healing. Finding the cause. I know the scope will give you an answer to what's going on inside, but there is a cause for the symptoms you're experiencing, this is what I hope you'll do some research about. Food allergies, sensitivities, etc. As we age, our digestive tracts don't function as well as when we were younger, much of which is the result of processed foods, etc. So, it's about healing the digestive tract and intestines. Brenda Watson has some fantastic books with very concise info, great illustrations, etc. My digestive difficulties began to heal when I started supplementing with HCl and digestive enzymes, I started increasing fiber, water, exercise...eliminating foods that I am sensitive to or allergic to, then choosing fresh, whole foods, that although I can't eat a lot of raw veggies, I can eat them lightly steamed and they retain their nutritional value that way. I learned what foods contain gluten and I've learned to really limit those, or exclude some that really cause digestive agony!
All in all, I pray for a diagnosis that will lead you to healing! If I can help with book suggestions, food choice help, please let me know. I'm completing my degree program in Holistic Nutrition, because I had such horrible digestive difficulties and health problems...so, there is info available if I can be of any help. Blessings to you Annika!

Annika--I was getting sick all the time several years ago, and it turned out to be my gallbladder. The test involving the scope is painless and quick--praying that all goes well for you and they find out what's wrong. Not knowing is very stressful.

Annika Have you been on any antibiotics in the last several months? I was recently experiencing similar problems, horrible pains and diahrea the pain so bad I was doubled over and hardly able to move. For weeks I thought it was stress due to my FIL death and the rest of the junk that has been happening but I was getting sicker and sicker so finally went to the GI Doctor. Turns out it was a RARE side effect of an antibiotic that I had taken months ago, not to be mistaken for the usual stomach issues with the antibiotics, this one causes and has very serious affects on the intestines. Meds for 10 tens and I am pretty much back to normal. Will keep you in my prayers.
Kathy
