I've been doing a lot of soul-searching, and I've come to the conclusion that some of the things I see going on in my life-long (on and off) denomination set my teeth on edge and scare the holy bejeebers out of me.Other things about it still attract me. Like many denominations, it seems to be splitting into extreme liberal and extreme conservative factions. the liberals scare me and the conservatives get me agitated.so I'm thinking of finding a good, non-denominational church and praying that I'll find some like-minded souls. It's almost like if you're not left, you're right, and if you're not right, you're wrong. Please pray that I can find a church with reasonable people who still believe that faith is important. I don't like this feeling of being without a church. Thank you.

Prairiehawk,
I hope you find what you are looking for. Sometimes I feel lost since I haven't found the right place for me but I like to think I know right from wrong and that matters to me a lot. Don't give up because the world is full of wonderful people like all the farmgirls who have posted on this thread.

(sounds like something else religous but it really is just "barn again kristin". I found a historical barn that was going to be torn down and my husband daughters and I took it apart and rebuilt it at our house. It is truly a barn again dreamed up by Kristin.)

You will be in my prayers and I hope you find the place where you feel at home to worship. I also attend the church of Christ (non-denominational but it's also non-instrumental where I go). I haven't been in awhile, well since my surgery, and I really miss it.

Hugs!

This is me jumping up and down for you!!

I come from a non-denominational church. Most are called church of christ. There is one faction that is non instrumental. They don't believe in musical instruments. DON"T BOTHER with this one. IT's not scriptural. So be sure to do a bit of research and ask questions

Basically, Chruch of Christ speaks where the bible speaks and is silent where God is silent

We baptize by immersion simply b/c Jesus set the example. We take communion every Sunday
We shun sin but welcome everyone (love the person, hate the sin)

If you have more questions I can get you more info. The tricky part is just finding a decent church out there among them all

I feel your pain. Down here everyone is S. Baptist. And it's very similar, true, but like you said, some are too extreme. I stopped going mostly b/c hubby's church is King James only . Very closed minded, that's for sure.

When I'm visiting my folk's church, it's really small and just getting started, but its non denominational.

I miss the church back home

I pray that you will be able to find just the church home that God wants you to serve in. Sometimes it can be hard - I'm searching right now too. But my priority is a good youth group for my 15 year old daughter.

Heather--I agree. I want a church where people don't gossip about the members' personal lives and the focus is on real worship. I hope we can both find the kind of church we're looking for. Prayers & Hugs.

My church is the place. We are Lutherans, but I never see anyone there trying to push anyone into anything, or acting like we are the only way(although I know some of the old timers would never set foot in a church that wasn't Lutheran) Our pastors message is always positive & uplifitng. We have many great giving programs that we participate in, & all kinds of social activities, & we get together & eat whenever we can find an excuse to! & NOBODY does pot lucks like the Lutherans. They are a wonderful group of people; I feel sad if I miss a week.

I struggle with this too. I have gone to many different types of churches and I have found you have to be with the crowd or they do their darndest to get you to agree. I just want a place to pray, sing, share in some socializing and maybe a good meal and then be on my merry way. I will pray we can both find the right places for both of us. (((HUGS)))
