My daughter who is 28 went in for a general exam and the Dr. discovered a mass above her breast, hard, fixed and painful. She was told to have x-rays done and they will go from there. Meanwhile, they have given her Vicodin for the pain. She also told me that it is the size of a lime that has been quartered (1/4)and is visible to the naked eye.

I am stunned...

I convinced her to proceed with the x-ray as soon as possible. Her grandmother on her fathers side died young from cancer and my father had a double mastectomy many, many years ago from breast cancer. Unusual they say, but not uncommon.

I remained calm during our phone conversation...she lives an hour and a half away and told her to follow through with what the Dr. is advising and not to worry about the expense! I can tell by her voice that she is very worried and so am I.

Please, please pray for strength for Kate and that she will not worry too much. Also, for guidance and making the right decision if need be for her treatment.

Thank you ladies.

Melody!! How have I missed this one? Oh my word. Are you ok? I can't imagine what a wreck you must have been when the news first came down the pike. Has she gone to the doctor? You know how I feel. Not knowing is infinitely worse than knowing! Keep us posted. In the meantime, the light is on and shining brightly on your family from mine!!

Peace and rest, ~julia

Melody, praying for you and Kate, and yes mama go get that girl and drag here in. Ok, now for some tact, I am sure Kate is very afraid of the "unknown" that all of this brings, I am praying for courage for her to do what she must. Hugs

No news...She still won't make the appointment for an x-ray. I called Katy on Wednesday to ask her if she made the appointment and she hesitated then said "No mom, not yet." I told her that it was VERY important that she get in and get that done. 28 and she still doesn't listen to me! I am going to call her again tonight and if she hasn't made an appointment for an x-ray I am going to make one for her and drive her to it myself....KIDS.

Thank you so much girls for all your well wishes and prayers...they have "enveloped" me and the feeling is so comforting and reassuring.

I will keep you updated I promise!

Love

Melody

Melody, Prayers being said for your DD that this is nothing serious. I had a similar situation about 7 yrs ago with 4 lumps in both breasts. 2 in each. They were more tender when I consumed caffeine. I knew I had one. I didn't know about the other 3 they found when they did the mammogram. I had needle biopsys done in all 4. No big deal. Truly it wasn't as bad as I feared. My radiologist did the procedure and things went very smoothly. He aspirated as much fluid as he was able from all 4. Turned out they were all benign fibrocystic cysts. The procedure was only slightly uncomfortable. Trust me I'd rather have this done any day than have a tooth filled. Hopefully, such will be the case for your dear daughter.
Huggzz & Prayers,
Cheryl

Melody,

I am praying for Kate and your whole family. What a scary thing to go through. I am praying that the mass will not be anything serious. A few years ago I found a lump (didn't hurt, but was about that same size) when I went for my mammogram they found another. They ended up being just fibrocystic lumps. I'm praying that this is all it is.

What a scary thing to have happen, and of course when you don't have all the information one starts to think the worst. I will be sending healing thoughts your way. I hope your daughter gets wha tshe needs from her doctor, the only thing I can say, and it sounds a bit trite, at least they know so much about the various forms of cancer these days. You take extra good care of yourself too, Melody

Oh Melody you know I will be praying for you and your daughter. I'll pray it is just a harmless fibroid and for His peace to cover both of you till the tests are done.

Meldoy- I will pray for your daughter.

My husband had a mass removed from his chest when he had just graduated from high school. It was encased in membranes and even though there was cancer at the center of it, he was find because the membranes hadn't broken. I hope that she doesn't have any cancer cells, but if she does, I hope that the membrane is still intact like it was for my husband.

Melody, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. My daughter had a good size lump they found on her very first mammo. It was quite scary. It did turn out to be a large fibrocystic lump. But she went through 2 biopsys and about 3 more mammos. and ultrasounds. They are very thourough. The fact it is painful may mean it is something else. We will hope and pray this is true and she will be fine. She has gone right away so that is a very good thing.

Hoping it's nothing. The great majority of lumps are something other than cancer, so that's what we will hope for. I've had breast cancer, am two years out and am cancer free right now. So I've been there. Let us know what you find out and I can offer all kinds of info if you need it.

Praying here for it to be a cyst or something else.

Jenny
