For all of you already praying for those who have lost their jobs, please add the men and women who are about to be laid-off at the company my husband works for, M&J Materials. He called me today to tell me that a meeting was had to give the managers a status report on the next couple of months. It's a steel fabricating company, and pretty much they have no new work coming in. If none comes in before the end of the month, they'll be laying-off 25% of their employees. If no new work comes in during August, they'll be doing another lay-off at the end of that month. They wouldn't even discuss what will happen if no new work comes in during September, but my husband feels that they would close the doors if that happens.

My husband is slipping into a worrisome, depressed state of mind. He really struggles with having to lay-off his guys and absolutely hates it. He's only had to do it once in the past, and suffered from several migraines after it was all said and done. This time around, though, his job is on the line and he has the added worry of our own finances. With me being a realtor and the market being like it is, we'd be in some trouble if M&J does decide to close down.

I know that God will see us through no matter what. I have peace in my faith. But my husband isn't at the same place spiritually as I. He's of the belief that he can handle our problems on his own because there are people out there who need God's help more than we. I've tried to tell him that God is big enough to handle the problems of everyone on this planet if they'd just call on Him, but my husband is very much of a self-sufficient mind-set.

I know the power and might of you praying Farmgirls. I'd be forever indebted if you'd include the folks at M&J along with us to your prayer list.

Thank you so much! To each and every one of you! Sharon, the scripture is....well...just perfect! I know that God has a plan for each and every person affected by the economy. At times it can be difficult, though, to look past the initial emotions of despair, anger, and worry. I try to remind myself that God never gives us more than we are strong enough to carry.

Cherry,

I will be praying also for the Lord's provision for these families and for your husband to call upon the Lord to guide him and give him peace. That would be such a difficult position to be in, I would have a hard time too. But, that is his job and he is being responsible in carrying out his duties to his employer.

An encouraging verse:
Isaiah 26:3 "I will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Me and trust in Me"

Praying for your family Cherry and the folks at M&J. Many places here in our area laying off or closing their doors for good too. Very hard on families everywhere these days. The positive side of this is that everyone is in the same boat and people can draw comfort from that. They had a segment on our local news one night about what some employees of various papermills in my area were doing since being laid off from their jobs. Amazingly many of them decided to do volunteer work for local charities. Most said having something to do has helped them cope and has also given them new avenues to pursue as they rethink careers. People are so resilient! I worked with a guy who got laid off after 20+ yrs in a mill. He did a total turn about and went into nursing. He didn't stay long at the facility where I worked at the time but moved on to the hospital but I think the main thing is never give up. Keep your faith strong and your attitude positive. God will provide.

Cherry, I will be praying for him, too. Poor guy. I'm sure he's thinking of all those families. That's tough on him. I will be sending good thoughts your way.

Oh Cherry....I empathize completely with your situation!

Michigan's new unemployment stats were out last week and we are up to 17% and I know for a fact that it is higher here in the Upper Peninsula. I completely regret quitting the Harbors a month ago. "Pride goeth before a fall"...I should have not acted so rashly and counted to 10 or did a few breathing exercises. Everything for a reason.

Keep the faith Cherry! I will be praying for you and your husband.

Cherry- I will be praying for you and your Hubby!
This is a subject that hits close to home as my Hubby has been out of work (only a small part time job)since September 08. I can tell you, that God always always always provides. He knows every need that you have. If your Hubby is let go, know that God already knows what is going to happen, and He is laying out plans for you already.

I will pray that it doesn't come to that end, and that Hubby's health will be good standing. Positions of authority are never easy places to be.

HUGS AND PRAYERS!!
