We received news Friday that my aunt who is only 48 has cancer. It has spread from her lung, to her spine and several lesions on her brain. It doesn't look good. As you know I lost my mom a year and half ago to lung cancer which also spread to her brain. This is my moms baby sister. We are very close, being raised together she's more like my sister than my aunt. We are just devastated. She's upbeat, and cracking jokes as usual. But they are trying to keep her out of pain, with a morphine patch, Dilaudin in her IV and Vicoden and steroids to help the swelling in her brain. Thats some major pain meds. They've not given us much info but they've done several scans and a biopsy this morning. My mom had 9 siblings, and 6 of them counting her have been diagnosed with lung cancer and is now gone, except for my Aunt Norma, and it sure doesn't look good for her. Thanks for being here!

~~Blessings, Mikki Jo

Mikki, first of all, I give you a very big hug. As some one said, spend time with your auntie, love her, hug her and just take the bits of good that come in doing so every time you can.
do not forget to take good care of yourself, physically and emotionally, I know it is a difficult time for you again.

Mikki, I am so sorry that your Aunt is going through this. It seems so unfair to lose so many family members to this horrific disease. I pray for her and for you. I know this must be hard on you to see this be happening again. Please know that I am thinking of you and your Aunt and praying for both of you.

Love and Hugs,
Mary Jane

Mikki...I am so sorry to hear about these losses for you! I lost my Mom to lung cancer too. It had spread to her brain as well. In fact, my Mom and my husband's mother were dxd about a week apart and passed about 3 months later, about a week apart. My Mom's too, had spread to her brain. Then, my dad, then my hubby's dad. All lung cancer. It's a VERY hard road. LMK if there is anything I can do. email me if you just need to vent/talk/whatever.
