Posted - Apr 08 2009 : 12:49:49 PM I Know what you mean about disfunctional. I grew up that way, and had a lot of issues with my mother. We didn't have much of a relationship in our later years but just before she died I get a phone call from my stepfather telling me my mother wants to see me. I was taken aback because my mother also had a daughter 15 years younger than me who was (the daughter) and they were very close or so it seemed. I went to see her and she was in the last stages of her dying days and was trying to make amends with me. I was glad she did. Now that I am older I realize I did a lot of things to my kids while they were growing up that were unkind. I have gone to each one of them and asked for forgiveness for any hurt I caused them. We are not perfect beings. Only God is. Melody just love your mom right where she's at.

Posted - Apr 08 2009 : 11:20:34 AM Melody, your mom will be in my prayers. I don't know what your dynamics are with your mom, but as Mary Jane said, sometimes a crisis can pull people back together.

Posted - Apr 08 2009 : 07:15:20 AM Maybe this crisis will help turn things around for you and your Mom. If not, at least you know followed your heart and was there for her when she needed you to be. Families relationships can be the hardest of all that is a given. I pray your Mom makes it through the surgery just fine and know you id the right thing.

Posted - Apr 07 2009 : 7:30:30 PM Melody, I will be praying for your mother's surgery and for you, too. I hope spending time with her will bring you both closer to each other. And that you can work some things out. There is a reason you are there. When I saw this it reminded me of my childhood and how my mother was when I was growing up. But for the past 30 years we have been very close. I just hope she recovers quickly and is back home soon. Does she live close to you?
